I already told you Shaka aint coming. I live in richmond, where VCU is located. shaka has already finished his recruting for 2012 and is close to finishing for 2013. You think he is gonna walk into a landmine like LSU after he is already getting 1.2 million per year plus a brand new practice facility on the way. You are out of your mind.

Pastner is the best of the bench. He can recruit and he is young and a bright basketball mind. Will Barton was one of the top 10 players in the country 2 years ago and Pastner got him to memphis. He is a guy who could come here and be here for 15 or 20 years. We dont need any retreads like Eustachy or Sampson or guys whose best years are behind them like floyd. Look at the coaches who have made the most impact the last couple of years not from a marquee school - Smart, Stevens, John Groce at Ohio this year. Pastner fits that mold. the others do not. Pretty simple unless you can get a guy like Kevin Stallings to leave Vandy - proven winner every year and can you imagine the talent he can bring here ? Look at what he has done at Vandy w/the restrictions they have because of academics. You want a proven winner, go with Stallings. You want a young up and comer that wants to make his mark hire Pastner.

He has yet to make it beyond the 1st Round of the NCAA. If we can't get Shaka, then my next choice would be Brad Stevens.

Gregg Marshall would be great if you want a head coach who is a jerk like John Brady and who also buys recruits - paid $50,000 for junior college player Carl Hall last year.

I'd like to see if Bobby Knight might be interested.

Why are we comparing the hiring of coaches like Shaka Smart, Brad Stevens, Anthony Evans, etc. to hiring Bob Knight, Phil Jackson, etc. etc. While I am not downplaying the potential of these guys to building legendary resumes, should there not be at least ONE up-and-coming young head coach that would be within LSU's reach? We do have somewhat of a basketball heritage, have an elite athletic program overall, and play in a major conference (although not the TOP conference in NCAA Men's BB).

Not happenin'. Smart would only use us for leverage, if even that, to get more money. He wants an elite offer. LSU is not elite in basketball.

Shaka Smart and Brad Stevens are out of our reach. Don't be a rantard. They are waiting for UCLA, UConn, Syracuse, etc to come calling.

Can't agree with this enough.

And everyone needs to let the Shaka stuff go. He's not leaving VCU. LET IT GO!
