The reality of the empty seats is as follows:

1. People are ticked off at the performance of the team (not at the players, this cannot be stressed enough, it's not the players) I've never played a down of football in my life but I know what sort of talent the LSU players are, and can be. That's a big part of people being ticked off. The players are not getting the coaching they need IMO.

2. When #1 happens, people begin to become apathetic, uninterested, they'll continue to support the team but it's cheaper to stay at home and watch it on the tv. Tickets are expensive. People are not going to pay $75 face value for a ticket to go to a game when the outcome could possibly be in question in a game where we should win by at least 3 touchdowns. Goes back to #1, again.

In a nutshell, the coaching the players have gotten, so far, has been disappointing and people aren't going to pay their money to have it go to mediocre coaching when there's insane talent at the coaches fingertips.

I'll always be behind the team, but the coaches are paid a ton of money to use the talent that is available to them and that has not been done, in my opinion.

That brings up a whole other topic but one of big problems is people are there for a social event not football.

A football game is a social event. People aren't there for a family reunion, they're there to see LSU whip some arse.

Now read my prior post. It's hard to argue with the empty seats, at least at this point in the season. And I'm all for seeing it do a complete 180.

Even if the product is good people are going to leave early. For people to stay nowadays at LSU games is if the game is close against a quality opponent. There's a large portion of the crowd there including the students that don't care much about football and are just there as a status symbol. The culture is just different than what it used to be and it's a problem everywhere.

I understand that but I don't think that's what the OP meant. The stadium was pretty bare last night and this is why.

Fans drive hours to get to a game. Some come from Houston, some from Mississippi, some drive down from even Arkansas.

I drive 2 hours. Yet I'm there along with the Houston fans, the Mississippi fans.....

Get better coaching, you'll get more fans in the stands, basically. Show a better product on the field and prove to the fans that you're (the coaches) are worth what you're being paid. I'm sold on Aranda. Canada, not so much.

I can’t speak for everyone, but as a season ticket holder who leaves early pretty often these last few years, the above quote is basically exactly how I feel. I go to games to have fun. It’s only fun when we see the team perform as expected. When they don’t (which is pretty much all the time these days) it’s frustrating and the event is no longer fun. So why stay? It’s not a revolt. It’s not a lack of support. It’s plain boredom and disappointment. I used to never leave early, but this feeling of apathy has been building for years now and it gets stronger every week with every shite performance. It’s frustrating to me bc I know it’d go away completely and the excitement would return if someone would turn this program around. We just can’t seem to get over that hump and I don’t believe any of the personnel in place now can do it. I believe a lot of fans feel similar to the way I do. When lsu football returns to glory, the fans in the stadium will stay longer.

I'm kind of giving Canada a pass because he has put a great offense on the field before at a lesser school. If your O line can't block I don't care what type of offense you try to run. It's going to look awful. Grimes needs to get fired now.

I agree with your points you made before about the pricing and the product. My family has season tickets and I drive in from Houston to see every home game, but the value you get from them is poor. This year you're paying thousands of dollars for Auburn, Arkansas, and A&M. If you wanted to you could find tickets to these games pretty easily and save yourself a lot of money.

I'm a season ticket holder as well and you took the words right out of my mouth.

Completely agree. We've underachieved with the OL since he's been here.
