Reaction From A&M Fans at Reed Arena

I made the two hour and fifteen minute drive to Aggieland and despite LSU losing, I had a great time. I walked up to the arena right at 8pm, talked the scalper down from $150 for a pair to $120, and sat in Section 105, Row P.
Student section was pretty awesome, the rest of the crowd were made up of older white football season ticket holders that were pretty tame, but they were more vocal than the older white UT Football season ticket holders at the Frank Erwin Center. The game broke the overall attendance record with a total of 13,888 in Reed Arena, so it was cool to be a part of that.
Speaking with Aggie fans, they were expecting a huge game from Ben Simmons, and of course didn't get it. The student section taunted Simmons with "Overrated" chants, and "Wannabe Sixer" chants while he was at the charity stripe.
Aggie fans were super nice, but asked, "Man what happened to Simmons tonight?" or "I don't think that Simmons is all that good." You can't judge Simmons' abilities on one bad game, but if roles were reversed, I would say the same thing about Simmons as well.
It was rough sledding last night, baws. We were hanging around when it was tied 44 all, and I thought we could do enough to maybe pull away, but LSU went ICE F*CKING COLD. After A&M went up 46-44, it became very painful to be there.
Ben Simmons got a double-double, sure, but I think he is extremely gun shy. He needed to take over the game, but instead would pass up a wide open shot so he could pass to Tim Quarterman who attempted a longer, more contested shot.
Simmons disappointed last night. I just want to see him shoot the ball more and be more selfish. Quarterman doesn't have half the talent of Simmons, but at least he isn't timid with the basketball. He had no problem jacking threes, and that's the mindset I wish Ben had.
A&M went on a 27-11 run after the score was tied at 44, which you want to blame on CJJ, but it's hard to blame him when LSU's shooters go ICE COLD. We couldn't even make wide open layups. Even Ben Fricking Simmons was missing layups.
I believe LSU will bounce back and win in Coleman Coliseum on Saturday, but I hope we get a more aggressive Ben Simmons in Tuscaloosa, as well as a more aggressive Ben Simmons throughout the remainder of the season.

I would love to see Simmons' shots charted and I hope someone is showing him. He appears incredibly reluctant to take 12-15 footer jumpers, which teams area all but giving him, and this makes him much easier to guard than he should be. And here is what I think the crazy part is: I strongly suspect that his percentage on 12-15 jumpers is plenty good.
I agree with those who say that Simmons needs to take more shots but I especially want him to take these shots because (1) he can make them, and (2) it will make it much easier for him to utilize his passing skills if defenders have to play him more honestly.

Yeah that's my thing. Simmons is a great passer, but he's also a great shooter. I would rather Simmons take those shots than Quarterman or Gray.

i think everybody would love for him to be able to shoot, but most of his outside shots this year have been airballs. He is a very good player but he has two huge weeknesses. Outside shooting and playing defense when the guy he's guarding doesn't have the ball.

Based on the market, yes.
Based on the fact that this was the biggest crowd in the history of Reed Arena, yes.
On TicketCity, the tickets in lower level sections were going for $65 a pair, not to include a $40 surcharge.
You can't only consider "paying face" as a great deal. I could have sat in the upper level and paid face value, but I didn't want to sit in the upper level, so I paid less than market value to sit in the lower level.
I spoke with a Tiger fan that got raped on Stubhub. I'm glad I wasn't that guy.

$60 for a college basketball game unless it's an NCAA tourney game is absolutely ridiculous. You made that scalpers night.
Think of it this way - face value for football tickets for the A&M game this year were $80 (second highest price for home games this year). LSU played 6 home games this season. Basketball plays, what, about 20 home games? That is comparable to paying $266 dollars to sit in the upper level of a football game. You got screwed bad.

Bama fans still think Mathieu is overrated after 3 balls were completed over his head in the NC game.
The opinions of other SEC teams' fans could not be any more meaningless to me. More often than not, they've proven to be complete morons.

I paid $20 on flash seats in 124 row L.
The game wasn't a sellout at gametime. The huge crowd was that more students showed up than they had seats for & they continued letting them in.
The seats next to me were occupied by Aggie students who were told by the ushers to go find any available seat. They were hoping that the people who may have bought the tickets wouldn't show up and they didn't.
Students really complained about the cluster of letting everyone in without enough seats.

He's not a great shooter. His contribution is his ability to make the players around him much better as a unit thus a better overall result. Didn't happen last night. Typical half-arse fans want to see a guy making a bunch of 3's or fancy dunks, but that's not really his thing. Doesn't sound like it's yours either.

Section 124 is in the corner. I'd rather sit in Section 105 for $60.
That's just me.

Needs to develop confidence in his outside shot imo. Has to get to rim with the switch hand finish or he doesn't shoot.

There were students standing on the stairs in section 206 and every available spot they could find. They would take someone's spot until they came. They would leave with out any trouble. Seemed like a decent group of students. Finally, just before half the usher got them out of stairs/aisle and escorted real ticket holders to their assigned seats. It was a huge cluster frick. I have know idea where all the students went but thank God they were made The students around us were nice but we had to stand almost the entire first half. They need a better system.

I would never sit in the upper level of any football, basketball or baseball game, period.

If you sit just anywhere, sure. I had halfcourt, lower level seats. $60 (with no shipping, tax or BS Surcharge) was below market value for those seats. The only people who paid less than I did in Section 105 were season ticket holders. I walked up last minute and got great seats.

Stop embarrasing yourself. You have no idea what the market was asking for.

Man I'm so embarrassed. I'm not the one that spent 120 to watch a regular season college basketball game

Think there was something slightly different about this one than the other 19 home games.
