1. On the interception, where was the drop off supposed to go to? Guice moved out of Etling's vision and everyone else looked covered. The pass was under thrown and I'm sure Etling would love that pass back. At the same time, Dupre had time to adjust and at least prevent a pick. I think Dupre can make those plays and we'll start to see that as the season progresses.

2. The second drive was stopped due to a hold. It was 75's first game back and he also created some nice holes for Guice (give him a pass and that can be cleaned up). Etling made the right play and it was good to see him hit another TE (Jeter). The jump ball with Dupre comes down to him being more physical and establishing his size. Etling will need to lead Dupre more as well (waited a second too long to throw it).

3. Guice and Mouton take over that drive. Would like to see more dominance from our OL on the goal line. Etling has a nice third down run.

4. Defense coughed up one big play but could have given up a few more. The secondary was meh! Key and Neal did a good job pressing the QB which we will need to see more of.

We should have won that game by a lot more, but the issues we saw can be fixed and it's a good start to getting back on track.

Moo State's in for a long night as long as we keep improving.

Nothing wrong with saying "we" when referring to the team we all cheer for and support.

We do all support this team right? This is the team we follow right? You know what fans are referencing when they say we. No need to be a jackass.

Not to a DB. He needed to tuck that, throw it short or throw it away. Even the most ardent Etling supporter should admit that. Hell, the kid manned up and admitted it. 1 bad pass does not break his performance. He was 6-14 (the bad) - he had 2 passes to Dupre that frankly should have been caught. Not counted in his stat line, he drew a nice PI that could have been a TD pass for him. He had a pass to Jeter that probably should have been caught and another to Guice that was catchable (IMHO), but not necessarily the responsibility of the back - the pass was not superbly placed.

So, clean ups by the receivers, Etling holding that interception - (or throwing it away) and a great play by Guice could have made his stats look more like:

(Assuming Dupre caught that PI and it wasn't called - or if called, it was denied because TD)

9 (or 10) - 14 (15) 185 yards, 2 TDs (0 INT).

We would all kill for that for 2 quarters and change out of a transfer QB in his first action.

Valid points. I just see the positives and areas that they are capable of improving. Little fixes.

My opinion is that "we" is only appropriate when you are directly involved with the organization/institution. If you attend or work at the school (or did in the past), go for it.

That play was doomed because of the scramble Etling was late on the throw and coupled with the underthrow the DB was able recover.

The other issue when most people are looking at the stat splits by half for Etling they do not see that 4 of his 6 second half passes were bombs which are low percentage passes. I don't know if that was the desired play call or if he should have checked off and threw to someone else.

So, according to your logic an LSU fan going back to 1958 but who never went to the school nor worked for it cannot say 'we'. But a janitor from Arkansas who was hired last week to clean up can say 'We'? Really?

yeah, Guice stayed home to block, so this was a play with only two options. The first look was to Dural, who had double coverage, so Etling looked that off and threw it to the 5 star with single coverage by a much smaller CB.

a jump ball in that situation, on paper at least, is not the greatest play in the world but it does work a lot.

it was short, obviously, and in hindsight he should have thrown it away (though i dont know why youd even run a play with only two options, both of whom were in the same general area) but at least he can read and go through progressions. even that is more than a lot of college QBs can do.

the PI there was pretty ridiculous. the CB grabs his right wrist and pulls down his left arm.

ideally Dupre still makes that play, and he does need to be more physical, but the ball had almost hit his helmet by the time he was able to get his hands up. its a pretty obvious penalty that should have been called

Same thing was said when Harris took over for Jennings.
My rhetorical question is what happened? Harris came in an SEC game and almost brought them back from a huge deficit. In that game he threw to the tight end, third WR and used his legs to get first downs.

Talk to me after DE has played a few SEC games under Miles philosophy.

Poeple can talk about machanics all they want but confidence at QB is everything.

Miles is not a QB coach but his offensive philosophy is a QB and OC killer.

Mett had success because of his age and more importantly his DGAS attitude
DE was coached at another school and is older I hope that makes the difference in this offense

That pass should have been intercepted, not caught. If the defender had been looking back he would have easily picked that. The ball was thrown to him not the receiver.

Etling threw 6 shitty passes. That is a terrible percentage over 16 passes (two were negated by penalties).
Shitty pass #1 - Bomb to Dupre that was intercepted
Shitty pass #2 - Bomb to Dupre that drew interference
Shitty pass #3 - Overthrew fullback
Shitty pass #4 - Hit defensive lineman in the face
Shitty pass #5 - Overthrew Guice down right sideline
Shitty pass #6 - Overthrew bomb down left sideline

All of these were in the second half. He was picture perfect in the first half. Let's be honest with each other, we have no idea which Etling will show up against State. I'm praying for first half Etling.

other than being wrong from start to finish, this is a great point

oh hey, look, it turns out the defender WAS looking back the entire time, yet DID NOT easily pick the ball and instead strangled the WR
