How is this thread BS?

Because what's the point of it?

We all know we lost yesterday. We all know we didn't get timely hits. Why as fans of the team, do we need to start more and more threads calling out one of LSUs best hitter for the last 2 years? What is the point of it other than to call out one guy?

Plenty of things factored in to us losing the game yesterday. We also left the bases loaded in the 8th inning.

I don't think he was saying Rhymes is the reason we lost, just that when we needed him to come through, he didn't. I think it's a valid thing to point out. There are many things that factor in to being a great hitter. The ability to come through with the game on the line is one of those, and Rhymes couldn't do it this year or last.

He was a great player at LSU and had an incredible season last year. He didn't come up big in the biggest moments however.

That's the problem. I don't think the OP even knows what he is trying to say. He's just venting and talking out of both sides of his mouth.

Eh, it seemed clear to me he was saying Rhymes was a great hitter, but disappeared when we needed him the most.

Is that not singling out an amazing, record-breaking player a day after his season ended? Why do that? Bitch about the coaches and the team as a whole all you want, but don't single out one player, especially one like Rhymes.

Raph hasn't done well in the post season. He didn't make any personal comments about anybody. You did that.

Rhymes was a streaky hitter this year. When he is not hot he is very mediocre at best.

Not even mediocre when not hot.

To all saying the ballpark was large and does not help a power hitting team like LSU (Please)We hit soft for the most part.

The guy who you all say is signaling out Raph?? He plays on TV for LSU and was in the World Series...He is fair game. He was 0 for a bunch with too many soft pop ups (It is what it is-please dont sugar coat it.)

The stats then come out for last years regional/super regional and he was 1 out of a bunch (so 1 for 35 or so in post season in 2 years-He chokes in big games!!!! evidently-proof is in the pudding. A-Rod can get blasted for poor post season play so can major college kids-live with it.

What about Bregman? Lets not go there as its mainly the same-Choke City

At the college level I have no problem with discussing player performance. Football players get it 10 times worse than baseball players. As long as it is about performance and doesn't get personal. They aren't making any comments about Raph's character.

These are 18-22 year old kids that are going to school. Not professional athletes. Yes, we can talk about their play and where they do good/bad, but starting threads specifically calling out a single player's deficiencies is not needed here.

And it's just moronic to do so about a guy like Rhymes. Yes, he didn't play well in the clutch. We all know that. Why start a thread about it? Why not make a general thread about how half the team choked instead of singling out one player?

I don't see the distinction you are making. Isn't pointing out a player's deficiency the same as saying he is not good at it?

It was a pattern with Rhymes. Sure other people didn't come through, but the sample size was large enough with Rhymes to realize that he just isn't a clutch hitter.

The singling out one player in a thread's topic is what went too far imo.

If it's a general topic discussing several players, then that's more okay to me. Just doesn't seem fair to be singling out Rhymes.

Just my opinion. Flame on.

Would have been tough to make it to the Super Regionals without Rhymes on the team. Best of luck to him as a pro. He sure has come a long way.
