Meaning, when Mett drops back to pass, how confident are you that he makes the completion when the team needs it.

The list: (in no particular order)

Josh Booty
Rohan Davey
Matt Mauck
Marcus Randall
Jamarcus Russell
Matt Flynn
Jarret Lee
Jordan Jefferson
Mettenburger

My rankings from most confident to least:

Russell
Flynn
Davey
Mauck
Mettenburger
Booty
Jefferson
Lee
Randall

Im confident he can make the throws when he releases. No one questions his mechanics, its just accuracy on the deep passes and drops from recievers. no need to rank this, dumb....

Maybe it is nostalgia rewriting the memories but the two NCs make Mauck and Flynn rise to the top.

Flynn commanded the offense in 2007. It was beautiful to watch him move us down the field. When we needed a play, we got it more often than not.

All that matters is the confidence is higher than with JJ/Lee. People just keep forgetting this is Mett's first run through in the SEC, how was Lee/JJ's first go? How did Russell do in his FR season? Did Flynn not have three years of playing relief in blowout wins to gain experience?

So. There have been plenty of first year starters thrive in the SEC. McCarron won a NC last year as a sophomore on his first trip around the SEC as a starter.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Marcus Randle put the team on his back and won a couple games for LSU in his time. I distinctly remember him coming in for the Arkansas game in 04 and playing great. I'm not saying he was a good QB for LSU, but I just can't imagine Mett having an impact on a game like that.

Randall did throw the bluegrass miracle pass. Which is fitting because all I remember of him was that he would drop back, sling it down field, and hope one of our guys caught it. I don't remember him carrying the team.

I'd have to switch Booty and Mett. Other than that, I agree with you

Why leave out Perriloux? He did very well in the 207 SECCG.

RP was never a starter, though he did start a couple of games and play meaningful snaps in others. He will always be remembered more for what could have been, rather than what was.

You can put him on your list if you want. You can include Hatch too if you want, but he had no business being here in the first place.

mett plays with the worst group of wr lsu has had in a long time also. take that into consideration. the wr cannot separate from the defender. it seems the wr are always blanketed and never open. mett basically has to throw the perfect pass for a completion everytime he drops back. its either really bad wr or really bad playcalling where the db's know what there running. the wr are just never open and i dont get it.

mett can wing it, and with time to throw i have all the confidence in the world of him getting it to a wr to make a play.

however, mett is a complete dipshit in pocket awareness and hopefully that will come with experience bc he is killing us with the lack of understanding when to step into pocket and when not and when to throw ball away and reading when the blitz is coming and not.
