From 2001:

1.Russell
2.Davey
3.Mettenberger

4.Mauck
5.Flynn

6.Perriloux
7.Lee
8.Jefferson

9.Randall
10.Harris
11.Jennings
12.Hatch

He still has one more year to play, but I'd put Etling in the category with Perriloux, Lee & Jefferson.

Mettenberger is number 1 for me and should easily be top 3 for anyone else. I was convinced after that UGA away game when he threw for 372 yards, 3TDs, no interceptions.
We had our most productive offense ever when he was here, and for only 2 seasons.
A 3000yd passer, two 1000yd receivers and a 1000yd rusher.
Except our defense was depleted and incredibly young.

I still can't forget that screen pass to TJ Yeldon in 2012..

You seriously think that Jefferson & Randall were better than Matt Mauck?

I agree mauck had a terrible championship game. He also had a far superior defense but total body of work in their best seasons Maucks blows flynns out if the water in every way. Gotta remember until after the Florida game our running game in 03 wasn't that great and Mauck carried the offense for almost half the season.

Fair enough. I recall the offense struggling against Ole Miss, Florida, first UGA game, and OK. Of course we all recall that pick6 against OM but maybe you're correct that those offensive struggles weren't due to Mauck.

We'll we started bad vs ole miss backed up on the goal line we ran play action and threw a pic. We ran it a lot vincent and Broussard each ran for 100 I think. The Florida game was when addai and Carey both got hurt and vincent came in and was getting killed he wasn't ready. We had a bunch of big plays get called back in that game too. The Uga game he didn't play bad but Uga kept the ball most of the game we played bend but don't break and caused turnovers inside our own 35 a few times. Once jv and Broussard established themselves and the secondary was finally settled that's when we took off in 03.

No. Statistically, Jones and Hodson are the only ones out of that group in the top 4.

But, Russell and Davey are ahead of all. Maybe even Mett's Senior season.

How Ryan is getting so much love on here is crazy... he really didn't do anything except be the QB of one SECCG. Other than that he didn't do crap and ended up getting kicked off the team and caused major problems for the 2008 team....

Anyway

Davey
Russell
Flynn
Mauck
Met
Lee
Randall
Jefferson

Fun fact: In all 3 seasons Jamarcus played at LSU he had a better passer rating than Flynn did in the 2007 season. There is absolutely no comparison between them.

Davey reminded me of Johnny Unitas when he would drop back and throw.
35 completions for 528 yards against Bama 2001 LINK
What's amazing about this video clip is Saban is our coach but the announcers are not fawning over him because no one knew who he was at the time. In fact, I don't think Saban's name was ever mentioned or the camera ever found him.

Flynn won a nat champ. Also Flynn had a longer pro career.

Tier One:

1. Russel
2. Davey
3. Mettenberger

Tier Two:

4. Flynn
5. Mauck

Tier 3:

6. Harris
7. Lee
8. Jefferson

Tier 4:

9. Jennings
10. Hatch

Ungraded:

Perriloux - Ability of Tier One but not enough snaps to qualify

Etling - Probably would be top of Tier Three

With a better defense and a better running game and still lost the same amount of games.

Honestly, if I were ranking teams of the last 20 years:

1. 2011
2. 2003
3. 2006
4. 2007
