Never heard of the guy but wanted your opinions on his quote.

quote:

It may be time to label Zach Mettenberger a bust, as he hasn't shown he can help contribute to this offense.

While I admit he has been far from great and not what I expected. It's not all his fault and he is far from a bust. Opinions?

Even after a few bad throws last week, I still maintain its 89% receivers 11% Mett that needs the work

He had made some throws on the money that have been droped and killed drives. Even the one that was high on the sidelines last week should have been caught that would have been a big 1st down.

Was the almost Pick 6 Mettberger's fault against USCe or the WR's?

Was drunk as hell and didnt fully see the play

Stud's for calling the same play over and over. Plus, LSU isn't the only team with good players. The CB recognized the play and jumped the route. When the ball was released he was 3 yards behind the receiver.

Ok, so 1st off, Les has pulled the string on Zac with all the running plays in the redzone, would explanin why he's a little rusty at the slant fade ....ie SC game. Les needs to turn it lose, and let Zac be Zac...thoughts?

They have said up here that Miles and Co has failed to develop a QB. I believe it is true.

Nah. Mett should have never thrown that ball in the first place. It was in double, maybe triple coverage and he basically threw it directly to Legree, who barely had to even read or jump the route. Better to throw it out of bounds or check down then to even risk it.

Thing is, he's still a "first year" quarterback. It's his first year to start...but everyone thinks of him as older and more mature because he's not a freshman.

I think he deserves a shot to mature, and I think he deserves better playcalling. And I think he deserves better effort from his receivers.

He should mature in his decision-making as the season progresses. Giving him a bit of time and building a better offense in which he can have success will happen. I hope.

In my opinion it was Mett's fault. If you watch the play, it was max protect two route play. It was well covered, but there was a single high safety. If Mett had waited a little longer and led the receiver into the open middle of the field, it's at worse an incompletion.

But, I believe he's a little gun shy due to bad o-line play. And he's being coached to try to get the ball out faster as a result. So he rushed the throw.
