quick question - is it legal to tackle someone by their hair??

Just watched the SEC channel highlights of the Arkansas game and on one of those long touchdowns our defensive back was overtaking the Arky player at about the 5 but could only try to push him out of bounds. The Arky players hair was flowing back like superman's cape. Looks like if the LSU guy had grabbed his hair he could have 'horse collered' him right on the spot.

May have injured the Arky player though - so I figure it must be illegal.

Yes. It's legal. The hair is considered part of the uniform in bother college and NFL. Notice how Henry tightens up his braids as do other RBs.

Yes....see famous tackle on troy polamalu years back...defender got a penalty for pulling him back to his feet by his hair but the hair tackle was legal
