Stamps can play. He man'd up Sampson pretty well last year when Catholic and Rummel played. Sampson won some and Stamps won some.

He was just 2nd team on Tuesday. Who’s battling for the starting position here? Lunsford, Dellinger, & Frazier?

Stamps was incredibly underrated in recruiting. You don't dominate an LSU camp against nationwide elite blue chips unless you can ball.

There's so many high end players who get overlooked and fall through the cracks in Louisiana in skill positions.

Knew this was coming after reports last week about Frazier getting owned a couple of practices in a row and how well Lunsford was looking. He’s gonna start at one of the guard spots over Frazier or Delly

Again, why posters need to stop star gazing. That shite doesn’t matter this dude has been brought up more times than Harris

Our best 5 this year will be Campbell, Dellinger, Turner, Jones, Heard. Not sure when we see it, but seems like it’s coming.

Frazier was the starting RG last year. This is actually pretty good news from a depth perspective.

I believe I'd read along the way during recruitment that while he projects at a high level, he's got to be brought along and developed as a freshman and isn't a plug a play starter like Jones and Campbell who are obviously rarities

Guys like Ashton Stamps and Fitzgerald West are the reason why I’m not down on this current recruiting class. Louisiana produces studs regardless what the “experts” rank them coming out of HS.

Really liked Stamps's film - thought he would be a 2nd year contributor though, so this is great to hear.

A high start rating doesn't guarantee a player will be great. Just like a low star rating doesn't guarantee he won't. But from a predicative standpoint the higher the star rating the more likely a guy will be a great player.

LSU had 5 top 100 HS recruits as freshmen last season

Perkins (5 star)
Wiggins (4 star)
Campbell (4 star)
Howard (4 star)
E. Jones (4 star)

I'd say the star rating for Perkins and Campbell were pretty damn accurate. Same for Jones.

There will ALWAYS be underrated guys that exceed expectations. But the more 4-5 star guys you have (like the ones listed above), the better your chances at being great. Otherwise, Georgia and Alabama would sometimes struggle, while Kentucky and Mississippi St would compete for championships with their (mostly) 3 star rosters. We know that isn't the case. So in other words, stars matter far more than they don't

You need depth at guard - no matter who ends up starting you need a good 3 man rotation at those spots
Last year you had Frazier, Dellinger and Bradford who all played significant snaps

The good thing about the tackles is you have two SEC experienced players in Campbell and Jones and you can give Heard time to develop
As good as the two freshmen were last season in sec play, they still made a lot of mistakes that they likely won't make this year and you can work Heard in without throwing him to the wolves year 1 and then if he's good enough to push someone like Jones inside than that makes your line that much better
