From how I am seeing it, LSU or Ole Miss can lose the semi-final game to a team they already beat and despite both teams having 1-loss is eliminated.

Why wouldn't it require the teams to play a tie-breaker game to get to the Finals if the winner's bracket team loses the semi-final game?

What's the point of double elimination in one part but not in the other?

I would assume it's so the teams in the semifinals can maybe save some pitching for the regionals. Not to downplay the importance of the SEC Tournament but all four teams have already qualified for the NCAA Tournament and that's the more important tournament.

Why wouldn't you have a tournament that goes from single elimination, to double elimination, and back to single elimination all before the championship? Makes perfect sense.

Yes, they changed this up years ago when they added A&M and Missouri.

With the added games earlier in the week and notion from coaches to eliminate a potential 3 games in 24 hours Saturday and Sunday.

It's not a perfect system, no ones arguing that.

Because the coaches would rather not play that extra game. Could put a team to where they have to play 6 or 7 games in 6 days.

The ideal would be to go back to 8 teams, single elimination. Save arms for what counts.

Gives a 9-12 seed who is on the bubble a chance to get a nice win or two to help qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

So that a team will not have to play as many as 7 games in 6 days to win the tournament. As it is, a team might have to play 6 games in 6 days and that's bad enough.

I would not mine just turning it into a single elimination event, they have been lucky with the weather but sooner or later you will have a year where the entire thing gets slammed with weather and you have no chance of finishing it.

That's why I don't think moving it to New Orleans would be a very good idea, just look at weather impact on Fla series or the last PGA event they tried to play.

we have this tournament for 5 reasons.

1-it might help a bubble team get to a regional (or host one)
2-money
3-money
4-money
5-money

Um, it's real simple. If the weather interferes anywhere near that much, they'll adjust/abbreviate. No one with common sense would let the SECT impact pitching for Regionals.

The coaches all like this format, btw. It was pretty much their's to veto.
