How many times/seasons do we have to have the same issues that come up despite different coaches and players?
One dimensional playcalling.
QB not developed.
QB issues.
Confusion.
Teams shows up flat, mails it in.
Lack of preparation/game planning.
Lack of evolution.

If the answer is many seasons and there's no evolution in sight (as of 11/15/14) then it seems like we've hit a wall with CLM.

I am in my 20's, I was raised an LSU fan but obviously don't remember much before 2000's. I know that all the criticism is due to the fact that LSU and fans feel as if we are a national power now and rightfully so. ( Victim of our own success). Anything less than 9-3,10-2 is a dissapointment. What would it take in your eyes to get CLM fired? Before you say I'm a spoiled brat and don't realize how bad it used to be, I'm not saying we need to fire him. Just wondering how long y'all think his leash is. I like CLM but that doesn't mean he will forever be the best for the job.

I started going to games is 1961. Was a student at LSU between 1973-1978. Have seen it all.
What did it take:
Charlie Mac: Students actively went to games at that time. Help MAC PACK signs and slogans everywhere. Heat was on for two years. MAC resigned. MAC did try to change.
Mike Archer: He lost control of the team and recruiting. Had bad season. Gone.
Curley Halman: Never had control of the team. Joke from day one but many of our fans did not want to fire him. Empty seats and money got him along with messing with the hired help.
Gerry DiNardo: As hard headed as Miles. Would not change. Recruited well but losses pilled up. Most fans did not want him fired. Mark E took care of that. I comes Saban.
Miles: You no long have a BOS that gives a crap or knows anything about football. All they care about is money. The AD is a joke. The new president is new. What will it take? Bad season next year, EMPTY seats and fans screaming for him to go. Sad to say, we will have to help tear it down until it can be built up again. Alleva must also go.

Short answer: The TAF has much debt with all of the expansions and improvements and such. The Miles machine is providing a healthy profit. Until the situation effects profit we have what we have good or bad. Unless he jumps the fence on his own...IMO

This is an exact replay of the end of the Dinardo era. Many fans supported him. Could not see reality. The end will be the same.

Yes they are equal to each other in the fact that a trashy, horrible fanbase both treated them like shite.

It would take about two or three losing seasons in a row....another words, it ain't happening.
Miles has a fantastic won-loss record, and has a National Title. Fans will ebb and sway with wins and losses. If we had won the Bama game like we should have, natives would be less restless. 9-3 or 8-4 was a real possibility this year.

At least 2 years unless he leaves on his own. Or if he gets caught doing something terrible where you can be let go for just cause without paying buyout.

Yeah the fans should treat him better by, for example, not giving a shite about wins or anemic offensive performances, or game after game of suspect play calling and coaching decisions. We should pay him millions and just STFU about what the end result is. Yay!

Kind of telling isn't it? In the post 2007 world if you take out 2012 Les hasn't exactly taken the program to new hight's.

Honestly two years left to turn this around. Next year we will have to replace 4 offensive lineman so it will be more of the same. In 2016 the excuses will all be gone. LF and DW will be juniors as well Quinn and Dupre. You will have returning o lineman and either Jennings or Harris running the offense. If the offense is turrible again, Les will be fired. I don't see us going thru another 08-2010 period again and not demanding a change at Head Coach.

Somebody else pays the buyout. LSU wouldn't feel it.

What was it like during the Hallman era? Imagine going into a game knowing you had absolutely ZERO chance to win because you were so out-manned and out-coached. Florida beat us in Tiger Stadium 58-3. Alabama routinely came to Tiger Stadium as a heavy favorite and you felt LSU was extremely lucky if it was even a close game in the 4th quarter. Losses were common. Wins were scarce. Trips to the Swamp would end up with Spurrier and crew running up 50 points or more. Every night you knew your team was going to be on the business end of an arse-whipping.

Oh yeah. I remember the years that it was down to whether or not we beat Tulane in the last game of the year to go to a good bowl. I remember Tulane coming in with signs ssaying, "LSU Ain't Sweet Enough For Sugar!" because their goal was to knock them out of the better bowls. And to beat Bama; holy hell, that was celebration time, no matter what the record was. The Ole Miss game was also huge then. Fans were happy then to win enough games for a bowl game. After that, it was just more frosting on the cake. I have gotten involved in the frustration over Miles as well, but the program really still is strong. Next year will be much better and all of this talk of firing the coach will calm down again.

When I went to LSU Charlie Mac was the coach. Fans constantly grumbled about him because he averaged 7 to 8 wins a year and could not beat Alabama. Schools didn't fire coaches as much back then but I think it is different now. Les can afford two to three seasons of bad performance (under nine wins).

I have said for years that if we won the NC by winning 14 straight games 7-6 half of our fan base would still want to fire the coach.

It's like Spuurier said when he had enough of entitled fans and left UF for the pros. "When I first got here it was..you gotta win. Well then we star winning then its.. you gotta win them all. Then we win them all and its.. you got win them all big!"

This is where LSU fans are now.

First things first, his buyout buys him more time than anything else & that's what most forget about. Next year will be the microscope year, can he/will he make the progress/changes needed at the qb position? If "this year's" Jennings is still the qb next year, his seat will start heating up. If that happens & LSU ends up 8-4 again, the next season (2016) could be his last chance; buyout or no buyout. He's been given ten years to recruit & develop a qb, he hasn't done that. He needs to take one of these "big time" recruits at qb & turn him into a 3 yr starter.

Under contract till 2019... buyout would really hurt amidst LA budget cuts

The state's budget situation has nothing to do with the buyout on Miles' contract as the LSU Athletic Program is self-supporting and receives no state monies for its operations. The pressure would moreso be on the Athletic Dept and TAF. TAF has considerable debt to service on all of the upgrades. Consequently, if their revenues start showing significant decline, they will be putting pressure on the AD to make some changes. Aside from ticket sales, the Athletic Dept also derives some money from concessions. They are not as concerned about folks leaving at half-time as most concessions are sold during the first half anyway. It looks nice to keep a full stadium for four quarters, and yes, it would add some revenue, but the fact remains that the Athletic Dept has made most of its money by halftime (ticket sales, parking fees, concessions, TV revenues, etc.). The only way that fans can effectively express their displeasure is to quit buying tickets and stay home. There was a time during the Hallman era that the Athletic Dept was asking folks to buy tickets and had the seats available marked (and there were plenty of them). I am not sure we will get back to that point anytime soon, but I would contend that if TAF feels any significant financial pinch they will be putting pressure on the Athletic Director, LSU President, and LSU BOS to do something.
