OK, they called goal tending on KY and stop play with the swatted ball coming back to our player. So a blocked shot or missed shot and we get the rebound it would be our ball.

But the goal tending call (which was wrong and later overturned) stopped play, awarded us two points, Kentucky ball.

It doesn't quite seem fair that a missed call by a referee should penalize the team that was shooting AND got what would have been an offensive rebound.

Well, I wasn't any clearer than mud. Sorry.

My point was in the event LSU got the swatted ball yet later lost the points they were also penalized by losing the possession.

I know to save time they now review later but in the case I made a stoppage of play to review and THEN award the ball to the team who gained possession would make sense.

I agree with you. It seems like they’d need to review it right then and there, and if overturned, give possession to the team that got the rebound.

One other point was that when they went to review it LSU was up by 2 and only like 5 min left. If they had taken two off the board then rather than when it happened the fans would have gone bezerk. I would not have wanted to be a ref at that point…
