I'm considering purchasing an apple tv for tailgating this season. I'm wondering what the internet signal is like on a gameday. Is it possible to stream with the signal strength?

TIA

Are you talking about LTE or lsusecure?

Both are pretty terrible on gamedays

You would have to be a student, and you would have to be near a building

Even then, I think the student would have to register the device through LSU. LSU may have changed their policies in the last few years though

lsusecure is no more. Now the wifi is eduroam. Apparently this makes LSU a part of some program across the globe with other colleges where students/faculty/etc can use the wifi on all participating campuses. Something like that. Google probably has more.

Too bad La has Cox. I know everyone hates Comcast, but check out the red areas on the map in the link ( LINK) to see the thousands of Public WiFi spots you can access through Comcast.

that isn't really a good thing for the consumer though. Comcast is trying to sneak it in where everyone's internet router is also a wifi hotspot. The funniest part is their claim that it won't impact the owner's speeds

Access is not a problem, already have an eduroam account. I'm just worried about the signal strength being able to carry the stream.

Getting an Apple TV on the eduroam network is going to be a huge pain in the butt. They don't support the network security type that LSU (and eduroam) uses for authentication. Even if you get it added, the speed and connection strength is most likely not going to support what you need. Streaming is the first thing to suffer under large loads of use.

I can't answer your question, but I've considered a Verizon wireless hot spot for this year to use for my chromecast. People I've seen on gameday with Verizon get much better service than att. I just don't know how many gb a month I'd need.
