First of all, congratulations to Big Frank for getting his degree.

Now here's my question:

Will he have to take a class (or minimum of hours) to play this fall?

Yes. He has to be enrolled as a student obviously. So he has to take classes. I believe it's 8 hours.

aim pretty sure this isn't the case. Didn't Peyton Manning play his final year after graduating?

Pretty sure you're wrong and a student athlete can't just be an athlete at the school.

Recall a certain Matt Leinart at USC taking ballroom dancing his last season?

He can sign up for graduate course work and whether he goes or not is up to him. Remember when Leinart took ballroom dancing and one other course his sr year. If you graduate early than that is the benefit you get.

Now that he has a degree he could transfer immediately to another school with a graduate program and play there as well.

He would need a passing grade in the fall semester to be eligible to play in a bowl game.

Leinart wasn't a graduate, tho. He just needed 1 more class to graduate. Guess he thought there would be lots hot women in a dance class.

Mettenberger only needed 1 class to graduate as well. He took an online english course his senior year.

beat me to it, 1 online class for Mett, so he didn't really actually have to step foot in a classroom that last fall semester

So all that stuff about Frank being ineligible in the fall and won't play was BS?

I remember reading a story about Mettenburger only taking three hours in similar situation and had all day to look at film and game plan stuff...

Yes. Big Frank will have to take classes, but the rules are different.
Regular students have to take and pass 6 hours, but players with degrees (I believe) only have to be enrolled for 1/2 that.
