Yeah think that was it, or 41 but it was one of most electric atmospheres can recall. Think having such a non familiar big name opponent that was ranked high and also at Night just had everyone buzzing. Of course like stated JW, GJ, DH, E Martin, H Fontenot and Co had one of their best games ever! UF came in next week and was close game for a while until they busted open and that was the season. We beat Tu on Thanksgiving night for the other win I believe.

there were about 3 per seat in the student section...perhaps had the capacity been enforced the chick behind me who threw-up most of the first half wouldn't have gotten in.

The student section was basically all they could pack in back in those days.

Sitting right there in the student section and people were sitting 2 and 3 abreast in the aisles. I believe after that game the fire marshals got a little stricter and had to keep on the aisles free and clear.

Don't know, guess you answered it though; inconsistent coaching. Not sure if UF was really good that year. Also, Fla St. was close loss and never could win @ UT even with Billy C and such; OM another close loss and of course gumps had revenge from year before and Moo St. blew us out. Lost bad to UK which believe had a pretty good F Cucci team? Beat USCe and Tulame and struggled with Rice for 4 w's!

Was in Tiger Band- We sat on 35 yd line back then.No limit in student section- there were people standing in rows everywhere. Back then, after a certain point in game, people slipped in with or without a ticket......

Almost an entirely new D (lost Elko, Dardar, Marshall (DL), Richardson/Williams (ILBs), Melancon/Joiner (OLBs), not sure abut the secondary but pretty sure we lost Eugene Daniel (very underrated CB in Tiger history).

Wickersham was a 1st yr starter at QB - inconsistent at times. Dalton wasn't full speed. As others noted, we lost some close games, e.g., down 17-24 vs UF, we're driving deep in UF territory, Wilbur Marshall intercepts, and shortly after Neal Anderson takes it to the house. 17-31L.

Not to be repetative, but in the student section, besides the stairs and aisles being packed, everybody stood through the whole game and each row actually had two rows of people, guys standing with the girls standing on the seats in front of them. Damn we had some fun!

It was the second home game of the season, first night game. Florida State was the first game of the season but it was at 11 am or some ungodly shite like that.

I recall sitting in the aisle at one point during the Washington game

I think all the schools play with the numbers. Kyle field averaged 86,000 again fans again last year and the stadium only holds 82,000. They had 86,000 for Rice last week as well. For Nebraska a couple years ago they had 91,000 and the fire marshal said that will never happen again.

I was there as a HS senior but not in the student section. I knew several students who were in the SS and it was exactly as many here have described.

The very next season was my freshman year and we had to 'order' free tickets AND show our LSU ID to limit the number of people.

To answer your question, I believe the only people currently counted that are not in a seat are the stadium concession and security workers, LSU athletic dept. working staff, and the media. That is why the largest crowds are always a few hundred to a thousand or so above official capacity.

And you could go into the stadium with a three liter come bottle full of bourbon in 83.

And the rental detachable stadium seats with a thin amount of padding over metal frames were available as well.

My first year at LSU. Literally, there were no aisles that night and you weren't gonna make it to the bathroom.

Like many here, I was there too! My freshmen year at LSU and probably still one of the greatest games in terms of an LSU performance. The crowd was electric and the loudest continuously I've ever heard. I remember the wave was started and no one could stop it. Great game!! Of course I was drunker than cooter brown!! lmao

I'm curious why you ask about a game 20 years ago?

Listed capacity now is 92,542 but for every big game, there are more than that "in the stadium".
