Lol.... Well done.
I wasn't sure, I knew someone would let me know if I chose wrong.
Has to be an academic senior to get 18. Adams and Fournette are too young for the award.
Dwayne Thomas, Mills, Q. Thomas, Thompson, etc... All good choices.

Jacob Hester disagrees about being a senior. I'm sure the rules get changed as it becomes convenient though.

Quentin Thomas is one of my favorite players. A little biased though since I always loved playing D Line.
Overall though he's shown great leadership, stepping in for Johnson and Ferguson after they departed. Was primed to have a breakout year before the injury. I strongly believe that.
It's actually quite amazing that he was even able to play this past season and when he did he showed hustle on every play. He's had a great motor during his time at LSU. Never gives up on plays.
The injury he had is very painful and 99 percent of people would not be able to play SEC ball through it. He really does have freakish genetics. IMO he makes a great recovery and has a great final season.

I don't think this is correct.
I don't think the year of the student has any bearing on it but it has been given to upper classmen the past few times.
I know Magee was a senior when he got it, Brandon Taylor was a senior (I think), Bennie Logan was a junior. I think Richard Murphy was a junior when he got it.
I know Hester got it after Mauck left in 2004, he had to have been either a sophomore or a freshman then.

The tradition really started after Hester left and ever since then it's been an academic senior. So while yes they can change the "rules", it doesn't mean they will. Especially now when we have a few seniors that are quite deserving of the award.

Jalen Mills
I wouldn't mind Mills. He reminds me of Brandon Taylor.
Actually, there are a bunch of good candidates so whoever gets it, I'm sure they'll be deserving of it.

You may be right. It looks like just upperclassman. Dickson was the first after Hester, he was a true junior, then it was Murphy as a senior, Brandon Taylor senior, Bennie Logan RS Junior, Barrow and Magee both seniors.

Hester was a true freshman in 2004. He wasn't on the team in '03. This is the main thing that confuses me about the tradition.

Hester started the tradition...its that simple

I thought he was a freshman but honestly, I couldn't remember 100%. He sure deserved it though.
I'm curious to see who gets it.
On offense, I think LF would be good but I believe he picked the number 7 because he grew up in the 7th ward in New Orleans.
If not Mills, I'd like see Jamal Adams get it but I won't be upset at all when it's awarded to the next player.

Matt Mauck started the tradition, on his own. He asked Jacob Hester to wear his number and represent it well.
Once that became known, it became a tradition and an honor to wear the number.
Make no mistake though, Mauck started this tradition.

You will not get a vote here. He needs to be on the field, not on the bench.
