When was the last time you saw a highlight reference back to either of the games you mentioned?
What does that have to do with it?

So let me get this straight. Going 12-0, losing to the eventual National Champions in the SECCG and then laying a major egg in the SEC's bowl game is better than going 13-0 while beating 8 ranked teams and then losing in the NC game to a team you already defeated? Is that what you are saying?

10-2 is a great result but not worthy of a raise.

Miles was the 5th highest-paid coach in the country. His performance at LSU has been top-five.

Looking at the data (which you can do here #shamelessselfadvertising), Miles is a lot closer to the 10th highest paid coach than the 4th. A LOT closer. And I could easily see a couple of other names in there (Chip Kelly anyone?) who can expect a significant pay raise before too long.

If Miles is top-5, and you want to keep a top-5 coach, then you need to pay him enough to keep him top-5 in pay. He was getting close to falling behind Kirk Ferentz, for Christ's sake. A raise is perfectly understandable.

10-2 is a failure as compared to three other schools in the Southeastern Conference. That's the standard. Nothing else. If you're satisfied with finishing in fourth place in the S.E.C., then you have really low standards of success.

10-2 is an acceptable record to all those excuse makers with low standards of excellence for the Louisiana State University football program. We all know who they are. They're on display here on a daily basis spewing their logic and reasoning for LSU athletic failures.

BTW, I used to wear a purple and gold uniform in athletic competition for the Ole War Skule.

This might be one of the dumber things I have ever read on this site. I don't even know how to respond to this. Winning is what matters. So you are telling me that if he ran a more entertaining offense and had perfect clock management skills but went 5-7 and 6-6 that would be better than having a vanilla offense and going 10-2 and 13-1 like last year. If you believe this then you are the dumbest person posting on The Rant and you should receive an award for that.

8 years of luck huh? You are either just trolling or the dumbest poster on this site. So I guess Saban winning this year against us was a perfectly executed strategy? Give me a break, everyone admitted they were lucky to beat LSU that night. You act like no one ever makes a diving catch, or bobbles a ball, or wins on a hail mary at the end of a game (Bluegrass Miracle was Saban btw, I guess that was strategy too, no luck).

ETA: should have been in the quote.

I'm an employee whose job it is to meet my goals each quarter. I have consequenses to pay when I fall short of those goals. That makes me qualified to have the opinion that CLM is not raise-worthy. LSU is a premiere football program - our goal is to win the championship; not to be close. It's Ole Miss's goal to be close but not ours

Who is to say miles didnt reach the goals according to his contract? Not talking about what fans want. The guy has incentives in place for making bowl games. Maybe according to alleva and taf, miles did reach those goals. Or maybe they also know they arent in position to replace him with someone better. I dont know the ins and outs of the mans contract and neither do you. So no, your job doesnt qualify you fir any opinion related to his contract and what he deserves.

Yes...I am the dumbest poster on the rant...so retarded that I'm able to see past the purple and gold shades that much of this site has and see reality for what it is. Did I say that I wish we had a more dynamic offense...no. I was simply saying that its undeniable the amount of fortune that this man has had.

Yes, you actually are if you believe Miles' successful run at LSU can solely be credited to having good luck.

I dont get whats so hard to understand about this. Everyone in sports renegotiates contracts all the time. Athletes demand trades and no one has a frickin fit about that.

Jesus christ did I ever say solely?

the other reasons are

1) fertile recruiting ground with no other in state school to share with.

2) John Chavis

3) John Chavis

I will argue ur chavis point.

Rant was in meltdown when we hired the guy. Defensive penalties all season show lack of discipline, and no you cant blame milrs if only chavis gets credit. Multiple collapses at end of half and games this year. Our pass d the last 3 games would make jj look like manning.

Also chavis just finished his 4th season. So 4 other seasons we had a diff dc and won a bcs title. You have zero argument. Heres why, miles would go out and hire someone. Just like any other coach in the country would.so if chavis left, youd think we would just leave the dc position vacant? How dumb are you.

People were pissed at chavis when he got offered the UGA job, then got a raise from lsu. Terds like you said he didnt deserve it he was just trying to bait more money from lsu and fans were saying let him walk. Same fricking story diff season.

Our fans are a bunch of little bitches.

LOL. Quite a contradiction to the reality of the coaching profession.
No coach was ever fired for going 0-12 as long as he looked good getting there?

That's true...we must have prepared for the football to bounce straight up at florida...oh, and for the all american auburn kicker to miss 5 fg's in 05...oh, and for the ingenious plan of Tennessee having 13 men on the field in '10....let's not forget the preperation the was necessary for D. Byrd hauling in a touchdown with one second on the clock....these are only a few examples of the type of preparation that get you a million dollar a year raise.

you guys are fricking morons...looking good is not what wins games...but the process of execution and understanding roles regardless of the opponent or score...frick.

Saban lost 3 or more games a year here except for 1. Including losses to UAB, inferior Ole Miss teams, close game with Troy at home, squeaker against Oregon State whose kicker missed a few kicks as I recall.....hmmmm sounds like the pathetic argument you're trying to make against Miles.....

funny how most former players that we hear about who have the balls to say something usually don't agree with the CLM praise.
