Jennings also completed under half of his passes last year...

Which shows that Whitfield is not a miracle worker so I wouldn't put much stock into his beach camp

Whitfield's gonna teach him the playbook?

I would venture Whit is going to teach him some of the skills that lets him maximize the "playbook".

Idk why you have so many down votes on that. Everything you just said is exactly what's going to happen this year and as long as Jennings is there. Miles doesn't care if Harris makes Joe Montana look like Jordan Jefferson he's still not going to start him. His man crush for Jennings will never die.

He's stubborn. He has rabbit ears for the fanbase, but his reaction isn't to change to show them he's listening, its to hunker down and prove that he can do it no matter what.

Going 2-4 against the SEC Western Division is just fine to me though. At least if you take into consideration the long view.

Anymore proof like that and we can find someone with a modicum of competence to finally show a lot of people out there that while Les is a great, steady-eddy type of coach, any number of competent head coaches can both recruit and coach in his position and achieve similar-if not superior-results.

So he can execute like Jennings?
Right. How much value is there in knowing the playbook when you can't execute most of the plays in it?

No. It's actually not. But there's so much noise regarding this from low info posters and drunk Tiger Fans I get that its laughed at.

But ridiculous? Not. At. All.

Miles has played favorites, but people tend to forget he straight up benched Jennings last year after 5 games. Unfortunately, Harris didn't play any better. Was he supposed to just ride the wave or try to win? Harris clearly was not ready for that role. If he's ready this year, I see no reason why he wouldn't have a chance to start.

He is probably just using this as a vacation because it didn't help him last year

No link, but according to both BH and Whitfield's Instagrams, he's out there putting some work in.

He needs to put the work in the film room and studying the damn playbook.

Agree as well.

Idiots hear rumors from "players" that say Harris forgets play sometimes. Well that proves how much better he is. He performs at a higher level than Jennings who supposedly does know the plays!

Is it too late to cancel my tickets, put a for sale sign in the Miles family yard and stick a fork in my eye?

There's fewer ways to mess up when you know what you're seeing out there.

This is where that came from.

quote:

“Last year, I’d be the first one to tell you that I didn’t know the ins and outs of everything I need to know,” the Bossier City native said. “Now, going into my second spring, I’m so much more comfortable. I’m getting everybody on the same page, not having anybody trying to tell me … right tackle telling me we’re calling the wrong play or this or that.”

quote:

Multiple times last season, LSU had a busted offensive play with Harris at the helm. Linemen had to correct a playcall. Tight ends, at times, looked confused when breaking the huddle.

The gaffes came in his first appearance in the season-opening win over Wisconsin and reared their head in a 3-for-14 performance at Auburn. Harris didn’t see significant playing time following that game — a 41-7 loss, the worst defeat for LSU in 15 years.

I can totally buy that he didn't know the playbook. What grinds my gears is when people assume he's being lazy and/or not working hard enough. No one has any clue of this but they continue to spout it off like it's common knowledge. That's my only issue.

wow, I hadn't seen that quote from him. Everyone should stop blaming Miles. Harris was a freshman for christ's sake. It's not easy learning this stuff. Cam runs a pro style offense too in terms of making reads.

Skyler Green didn't know the plays his first year on campus. Saban told Jimbo to teach him one play and then run that play.

Harris didn't need to know the entire playbook. He needed enough to make himself dangerous. Then let the running game and the zone-read help him fake it until he made it.

Last year, Harris' inability to grasp the playbook is a failure of Les Miles and Cam Cameron's doing. Period.
