I have been a fan since I was little and now 41. I remember the 90's. Let's look at the last three hires.

Gerry Dinardo...I remember people saying, we got a coach from Vanderbilt. He turned things around quickly and got us back to a 10 win season. In hindsight, he wasn't a home run hire but did very well. Yes we melted in 98. Bad in 99.

Nick Saban...I remember people comparing him to Mike Ditka...hardass. He had success but remember, Dinardo whipped his arse in the Indy bowl in 95. Michigan State guy. Another okay hire, but not the flavor of the month. He immediately made a difference, outside of UAB, and the rest is history.

Les Miles...another wtf hire. I recall watching the bowl game and Ohio St was blowing them out. Yes he has had his mishaps, but most successful coach.

Point is just because someone else isn't doing as well elsewhere doesn't mean it can't work here. I think considering the landscape of football, show me three better candidates from the major college football program. Texas, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, etc. They are no better and probably worse.

LSU is the only school in the state, have the best players per capita in the NFL and each of the last three coaches spanning 20 years have had a great bit of success. We shouldn't reach for a coach, but if we get Jimbo, then I don't see how you can do better. Nick Saban isn't coming back. Do you really want Urban Meyer? Jimbo won a natty in 2013. That was less than two years ago.

Flame away.
