No. Don't mess with uniforms in big games. Certain games should be timeless, and you want them to look the same as they did when you were a kid, and when you are a grandfather.

to me, it kind of sucks to see Alabama in white helmets

Ha! have to admit I haven't watched professional football in 15 years. but they used to. I even remember getting an electric football set with the dallas cowboys as one of the teams with blue jerseys. if you don't know what electric football is, they've got one on the dr. pepper commercial at steve spurrier's house.

I still like our colored jerseys at home.

when the team name is a color I don't like them coming into our stadium wearing their colors. put '
em in white.

In looking at my post (1950's to current), 2 things occur to me:

make the stripes go all the way around again, like they used to

go back to the darker pants, don't go with the canary yellow.... and the pants and helmets need to match.

I wish we wore purple jerseys at home all the time. I even wish we occasionally wore purple pants.

Normally I have no problem with the gold/purple/gold uniform, in fact it's the best looking one the Tigers wear.

It's just that when we're playing Bama (particularly a Saban coached Alabama team) we need all the advantages we can get. There's a widely held belief that uniform is unlucky, and we wore them between 1983-1994 and played Bama 7 times wearing that combo, and was 0-6-1 vs. the Tide.
That fact alone should keep us from ever suiting up in it vs. the Crimson Tide.

I was at LSU in 1971. I believe that was the last year of the "classic" uniforms, with large purple numerals on the shirts and purple numerals on the helmet, rather than "LSU" with the Tiger head.

The yellow, or gold, tint of both the pants and the helmet was somewhat darker than it is now, more of a yellow-orange hue. It was AWESOME!

It was a road game vs. Florida, way back in 2000.

Since that time we have only worn purple jerseys against weak nonconference teams at home, or weak conference teams on the road (Miss. State and South Carolina). The only time we wore them and were not a heavy favorite was against Georgia Tech in 2000. LSU won that game 28-14.

No way this happens. If there's one thing we've learned about O is that he will always do the PC thing. He does that, he has everyone 50 and older up in arms.

Eta: Even though they are the GOAT unis

I just have to comment about this photo, since a lot of younger folks don't remember

This is Dalton Hilliard.

This photo shows both his insane cutting ability, and his MASSIVE legs. He was maybe 200 lbs, but had the legs of a nose tackle. I garauntee #98 from Bama was about to get whiplash.

College football is deeply steeped in tradition. There are many more of us on here who respect those traditions than there are of you. If you want to frick with uniforms go mess with the Saints. Yeah, they win here and there, but they are so good at losing in any color.

When the Saints lose, few give a shite.

Let LSU lose, and the state has a down mood for the week thereafter.

We'll keep our traditions and our wins at LSU.

Go mess with someone else's shite who has no traditions or just has a reputation of not caring.

Yes, and not for looks, for strategy. It is more difficult to see who has the ball during play-action execution when wearing a darker jersey. Purple provides a darker background than white. It didn't matter during the last five games but we run a lot of play action under Orgeron. Wear Purple.
