quote:Agree. He's an irresistible ratings draw. We just need to avoid making it impossible for them to pick us by shitting the bed in the SEC.
We will get the benefit with Ben Simmons on this team
I predicted 13-5, and I stick by it. 2-1 in the SECT.

11-7 SEC, 18-14 overall. NIT mid-level seed. This team does not have the consistent defensive intensity to win games when the shots aren't falling.
The only thing I think we have a better than average shot at, is winning the SECT. If the shooters on this team can get hot at the right moment, we could go on a major run. Plus there are no real dominant teams in the SEC that would be a guaranteed loss.

13-5 SEC Record 21-10 Overall
I think we get 3 seed in SEC tourney and go 1-1 and we end up 7-8 seed.
good thing they beat Kentucky. 11 loss teams (your prediction) more likely to get one of the play in games than a 7 seed.
seeded as 11 or 12 in the 11-11, 12-12.

Why do you have 10 seed/nit? 11 and 12 seeds are at usually at large bids
Because the line is just that THIN. We were a 9 last year and we had some pretty down ward moments. Nowadays, the 11 and 12's are play-in games (not all) and a mix of auto bids and NIT borderlines. I think one big win in the SEC tourney (say over a UK in the semis) would be the difference in a 10 seed and an NIT bid if we lost.
The NCAA also loves them some $$$ and we happen to have the best to 2nd best players in the country. If we can win 20 games and have 5 quality wins, we will be in. We must reach double-digits in SECt for that to happen.
What makes me nervous is thinking back to '04 when we were 17-4 after beating a top25 Florida team in Gainesville. We ended up losing about 7 of 8 and got blown out in the SEC. We went, in 3 weeks, from being a 5 seed to an NIT team. Lloreda's injury killed us. Brandon Bass was still young. No one was that interested in us. Shaq teams were always going to be there. I hope Simmons, the one year he's here, can bring that star-quality necessity that CBS, etc. will want.
