Prayers needed. Coach Kenny Guillot has passed.

Kenny was called “The Godfather” of coaches on Baton Rouge TV, is a member of Northwestern State’s undefeated national championship in the 60s, a hall of fame coach that coached in college at McNeese and Nicholls state, and Tara, Woodlawn, and others as well as completely turning around the Parkview Baptist football problem with multiple state titles, one of the originators of the Australian punter and maybe most importantly to this board, a loyal supporter and friend to LSU always. And maybe most importantly a kind and decent person that has always practiced what he preached , hard work, dedication, integrity, fair play and good sportsmanship, “old school” to the end.

I think Darren Bennett may disagree, but in the modern era, Coach Guillot definitely started a renaissance with Brad Wing.

Yeah it was all a scam to get brad off the streets until his mom go into town from Australia. Basically his dad said he can be manager, water boy whatever just something to keep him busy and out of trouble until I can pick him up after work.

Sad thing is he'd probably be cancelled in today's world for being so insensitive.

Best coach that ever coached me, back in his Woodlawn days. His players would run through a wall for him. Interestingly, he was succeeded by the worst coach to ever coach football at Woodlawn.
He made a lot of men out of boys. I love you Coach Guillot.

Coach Guillott is an absolute legend! Turned a lot of young guys into hard nosed men. Will forever be grateful for him and the culture he built within his football program. I know he’ll fight like hell till the end.

They were awesome. One of my great friends and probably the best person I’ve ever known helmed that offense. He sadly passed a couple years back after a rare disease that causes tumor growth. Coach Guilliot was a big influence on him. Both incredible men in Christ.
Didn’t play for Coach Guilliot but had several interactions with him and nearly left from a school in Livingston Parish after my freshman year following my great, late friend who did make the switch to Parkview. I ended up staying where I was but Coach Guilliot was gracious and caring enough to check on me my junior year when I had a health issue.
Coach Guilliot is about as genuine as they come and is an example as a man who walks with Christ.

I’ve been fortunate enough to know him quite a few years. Had some heated conversations and some great love. You always knew where KG stood.

Graduated from Jesuit High of Shreveport in ‘62, so probably 76 going on 77. Played football, baseball, and ran track. Was an altar boy.

His high school coach was the late legendary NFL scout C. O. Brocato, who played defense at Baylor in the early ‘50’s and was as hard-nosed and “old school” as they came.
