40 Yards to Daylight!

A very thorough and insightful look at the mysteries of the 40 yard dash and the eternal question on the 'fastest man ever'. Good read.

Alexander, I actually read a lot of that and I have to say, it was absolutely mind-numbing

To be honest, that site is poorly put together.

Pretty cool article, but someone has too much time on their hands. I got a little dizzy reading it.

Mr. Filebacker, what you've just linked is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in the rambling, incoherent article were you (the author) even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having considered reading it.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Man that was a heck of an issue to tackle. Lots of science and words trying to decide who was the faster NFL player ever factoring in the flawed methods of measurement.

You
Cant
Convert
Different
Runs
Using
Math
To
A
40
Yard
Dash

The running speed isnt a constant, it's a consistently changing variable especially at the start of the run
There are different strategies for different runs actually, and olympic sprints start in a 4 point stance rather than 3 point for the NFL 40

Did you read it? A speed function based on the distance from the start was used. When footballers were compared with track athletes, it was based on their track results. Most of the athletes had both and who didn't, could be placed according to others. I didn't say it was easy. If it would have been, this analysis would have been done already a long time ago.
