No one's even said a word about CPM, yet here you are with some preemptive white knighting.

That's impressive.

LSU is an NCAA tournament team that has managed to put itself into contention to host. But the pitching is still suspect against the top-notch teams.

Depends on how you want to quantify top notch other than wins and losses.....Florida is batting like .266 or something in SEC play, I think I read. On the other hand, Tennessee had lots of pop in SEC play.

Make all the excuses you want but we we played the big boys this year, the margin for losses was razor thin.......we gonna be OK.

Pretty sure I made no excuses. I just replied to you, that's all.

LSU is a good team. As for the original question in the thread, the turnaround was helped by playing three non-NCAA tourney teams in the streak. One cannot deny that.

Against the Mississippi schools, LSU was 1-2 in games where the winning team had fewer hits and 0-2 in games where the teams had an equal number of hits. Teams should end up around .500 in this type of game, LSU was 1-4, and the trend seemed unlikely to continue.

In the 8 game win streak, LSU is 3-0 in games where the loser outhit the winner, putting them at 4-4 in games where the teams had an equal number of hits or where the loser outhit the winner since Game 1 against State, which is right about where they should be.

Ask the possum and stop doubting. The possum knows.

that Arkansas game, I knew we had a comeback in us. we were getting too many runners on base and drawing walks. Same with Sunday at UT even when they tied it at 6. we hit ragarms like it's a fact of life, dating back to Skip and Gorilla Ball.

even when things looked bad for Poche especially, he's been limiting the damage. Same with Lange walking dudes against UT. Stallings was living on the edge at ND, until he miraculously got that one pitch.

the best thing about Mainieri is that he doesn't baby our players. he'll speak the truth and some hate him for it, but he seems to understand we should recruit the best talent here, and they know what they're getting into. it's a cliche, but refusing to lose is real.

This is a very poor explanation for how we won half those games.
1-0
2-1
3-2
5-4

I disagree. When our bats are not working I think it is our BATS that are exposed. Pitching and defense are not perfect but offense is the weakness of this team without a doubt.

In-game coaching decisions by PM have for the most part worked, guys like bain, gilbert, and reynolds have emerged in the pen, and we are hitting insanely well with RISP

First and foremost Good Timing/Peaking/Maturation as a team, Kramer Robertson, Duplantis, Romero, Fraley and Freeman, the Twins, hitting throughout the order, home crowd vs FLA. pitching confidence with early scoring.
