Josh, since your opinion on baseball is pretty well respected, I'm just curious what your thoughts would be even without knowing the matchup. If we did wind up in Austin, what would you do?

agreed, but knowing PM, he wont play around. esp. if we're a 3. Gausman goes game 1.

Tell me who the 2 seed is.

And honestly, there prob isn't a wrong answer in this situation.

You may be right about PM, but isn't the discussion the same regardless of whether we're a 2 or 3 since we'd be facing the same team?

Chances are your guess is better than mine, but I see your point.

I'm always of the opinion that you should try to win the regional, not just a game, with that said, we don't have 1 truly dominant pitcher, both McCune and Gausman have done it for us. Gausman with more upside of course. I'd prob just go Gausman game 1 to try and get the win. Facing Jungmann in game 2 go with McCune, and Eades after. Anyone who can or wants to throw on day 3, can, Gausman and McCune included

On the other hand, I can totally see the idea to throw T Jones against someone like Jungmann in game 2, but I wouldn't want to just lay down.

I agree. I know Jones has the potential and could find lightning in a bottle, but it just seems like that's laying down and I'm not crazy about it.

Yeah I was going to say this will be easier to say when the regionals come out.

Right now I'd go McCune, Gausman, Eades/Alsup.

I never said we were....but IF, what would you do?

Refer to my original post next time and notice the part where I caveated my premise with "assuming we are in a Regional".

Eades vs. UT n game 2. dont waste Gausman vs. Jungmann

So basically you concede the loss in game2. And come right back and pitch your ace against the same team you played in game 1. For all that you should just pitch your ace game 1 and hope he can pitch some relief in game 4. So basically your playing against the top seed in the regional never pitching your 2 best pitchers.

Gausman has been a man amongst boys his past 4 starts. I'd feel comfortable to beat anyone in the nation with him on the mound. Start him game 2 no doubt in my mind.

yea i agree.

Gausman gm 1, jones game 2 vs. Jungmann

if we lose we have Kurt, Ben & Eades to dig us out of the losers bracket.

if somehow we beat Jungmann w/ Jones we're in the drivers seat.

I disagree honkus. Why would you not want your best against the best? We're playing to win the regional not go home. Mccune game 1 gausman game 2.

So, we goin to austIn??

I bet they send us east this time. Or someone in Texas other than Austin.

TCU, Rice, and A&M will host.
