1. The National spotlight is directly on Miles and the media will be less critical of LSU and its administrators for making a HC change if Miles is given 1 more year to "fix things", and if the results aren't positive. We will have a very difficult time hiring a great coach at LSU if the perception is that we have unrealistic expectations with zero-to-minimal tolerance for mistakes.
2. Miles cannot BS his way around making key changes at the end of the year. As others have stated, the Crowton exit will likely be stepped up a full year ahead of what the expected timetable for his dismissal would be - Miles being the loyal CEO, he would've likely given Crowton another year, blaming our offensive inconsistencies on a young QB, losses in the Oline, etc., etc., etc. - he doesn't have that luxury now - Crowton will be gone. I hate to see anyone get fired, but Crowton has to take blame for the lack of development on offense with so many weapons. The Oline coach probably needs to be dismissed with Crowton.
3. Contrary to what many have stated about LSU being the "laughingstock of college football", I see it in quite an opposite way. Most non-LSU fans that I talk with are more "in awe" of our team's ability to chalk up a still respectable record, play tough against the top teams in the nation, and find ways to do so in spite of key injuries, the myriad of coaching changes (starting with Saban's departure and Miles' entry), and the hard luck/poor coaching decisions/poor officiating calls, etc. that have helped create some of the losses incurred.

Overall, nobody disrespects LSU's program and while many don't particularly like Les Miles, they respect what he's accomplished as a head coach these past 5 years. With this latest drama, I expect that we will have a head coach who will do whatever is necessary to redeem himself -or- accept the punishment end of next year. It is critical that we, as a fanbase, acknowledge the problems but stand up for our program and support our coaches through this tough time. Recruits need to know that our university and our football program is awesome (in spite of our occassional fumbles, bungles, and flaws). If our own fans don't speak highly, then our enemies will only confirm that by quoting our own sources. We don't need that!
