Poor QB play in the past is over !!!

How many times have you seen LSU's QB's the past six years throw the ball away without sacking pressure? How many passes at the knees? How many over throws? How many times have you seen open field and the Tiger QB decides to throw rather than move the sticks? It seems like a long long time ago we had a QB with BALLS. A QB that can win the game himself when needed to. A QB that doesn't hang his head when he makes a mistake. I have seen the worst collection of QB's lead the purple and gold and I am here to say those days are over. I have watched Myles Brennan in person and this young man is nothing short of a fierce competitor. He reminds me of Joe Ferguson. Brennan has all the tools to be a championship QB. He's not ready yet because he needs to bulk up. Red shirt him this year, and lets get behind Lindsey Scott this coming season. With exceptional QB play we beat Alabama three times in the past five years. We have the talent, and now Miles is gone. Coach O will take us to the promise land. I do believe.

I wonder what percentage of the Rant posters even know who this is.
If he is as fierce as Joe, things are definitely looking up in the QB department.

So you are saying that the redshirt freshman needs to start over two seniors who have 3 years of experience between them? Then bench him the following year so that another redshirt freshman can replace him as the air apparent Joe Montana?

Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich... That- that's about it.

I may have seemed harsh in my last post. What I meant to say is if Lindsey Scott is good enough to beat out two experienced seniors as a redshirt frosh, I would expect that he be good enough to play two more seasons. I wouldn't mind seeing that. I just want the best guy on the roster playing quarterback and all to get a fair shot at it. With Les, I never felt that the best guy was on the field and the backups never really got a shot even though the starter sucked...bad. I always like Steve Spurrier because he would pull a guy for one bad play...and then put him back in when the other guys had a bad play. He is known for being an awesome quarterbacks coach.

But what if he's not the best QB on the roster?

that is actually a horrible trait for a coach to have. It makes your players afraid to make plays for fear of making a mistake and getting benched.

You don't hear a good Joe Ferguson comparison much these days.

You are right. The ole ball coach is known as a terrible quarterbacks coach who never gave anyone an opportunity to play no matter how bad the starter was.

Never said spurrier was a bad coach nor did I say that a coach should never pull a starter. What I said was it's a horrible trait for a coach to pull a player FOR ONE BAD PLAY (which I highly doubt the OBC did). If a kid thinks his first mistake will get him benched then he will play tight and never take a chance for fear of getting benched. The results are that your QB holds on to the ball to long and even delivers the open throws late.
CLM didn't bench his QBs but he did bench the passing game as a whole the second a QB made a mistake and the results are what we've had the last 10 years. You get players like Anthony Jennings who refuse to throw the ball or you get a gunslinger like Brandon Harris who completely regresses and shits the bed.

On this we can agree for the most part. The NC game...Lee should have had a legit shot to see what he could do. There was too much on the line to not try something different. Jennings had a terrible year and Harris never sniffed the field following the Auburn game where he should have been pulled earlier rather than be ruined. I see your point on the ole ball coach but you can't argue with his quarterbacks play as a whole (Wuerful, Palmer etc...), the guy knew how to get the most out of his quarterbacks and there is no question about it as this is what he is known for.
