Cam is an upgrade over many college OC's. Getting an upgrade from Stud was easy.

It doesn't really make sense. If anything you should punish them with a difficult drill that will assist more directly in improving their pass catching ability. I would be like, hey, go do 100 of these

They do catch balls off the jugs machine. Push ups aren't done to improve the ability to catch the ball, it's to show some accountability for the drops.

Practice would take 10 hours if you had to catch 100 balls off the jugs for a drop.

No it wouldn't. You are creating a ridiculous hyperbole to disagree. It doesnt have to be 100, it doesnt have to be one machine. It is just an example. You can easily do this drill to actually address the problem.

You are hiding behind this lame "accountability" excuse that pushups supposedly provide. Oh, so having to go off to the side and practice the actual problem does not?

Are you really this dense?

I'm gonna explain why people are insulting your opinion.

You're implying that they won't do pass catching drills. They're gonna do a crap ton of those drills regardless whether they drop a ball or not. Also catching balls is mostly mental. The majority of dropped balls are because a receiver takes his eye off of it or is focused on a defender rather than the ball. It's only partially the physical act of dropping the ball. The push ups are extra incentive to pay attention. Focus on bringing in the catch. This is what will be effective about the punishment. The receivers will do plenty catching drills just as a daily routine. Wouldn't make sense to make them do a drill that helps them learn to physically catch better when the problem is a mental not physical one.

And besides those push-ups may not help them catch but it builds upper body strength which is key in run blocking. Look at the whole picture.

No I am not. Don't claim that I am.

You can achieve the same effect by speeding up the machine. Don't be ridiculous. Pushups isnt some magical method for grabbing one's attention that other drills cant achieve.

You could use your exact previous argument to refute the relevance of this claim.

You literally said push ups won't help them catch which is implying they were spending time doing push ups instead of catching drills.

Ok mr Jerry rice. How would you coach them? I'm sure none of these 6 figure coaches know a thing more than you about catching balls.

Exactly.

Most people doing pushups that don't want to do them are doing them b/c they messed something up. Believe me, they will learn how to not mess up as much.

LSU receivers have been shite at catching for years. Which if they have been doing this system previously, it really explains why.

0 championships in the last 5 years. The pee wee team I coach? 4. Just sayin

Push ups take no time away from the drills. While you are waiting in line you do push ups.

They suck and everyone sees you doing them.

It makes you want to catch the ball so you aren't that guy on the ground every other pass. Players are limited to the amount of time a week they can practice. So doing this takes no time away from the drills. Like I said they suck. So the whole time you are doing them you tell yourself "I won't fricking drop the next ball."
