I was trying to think of who Jared's performance reminded me and Doug Thompson is who came to mind.
That was one of the most impressive outings by a Tiger pitcher that I can remember. Just wow!
Jared should get some kind of tenure for that.

Poche is the reason we made it to the Super Regional. Without him we lose 10-5 or 9-6. No way the rest of the staff could stop the bleeding like he did.

He stood up and dared them to beat him. Nutted up big time.

Same here. It also reminded me a bit of when Jason Determann came in during the 1st inning against the Aggies in 2004 Supers after Nate Bumstead shite the bed. Determann's performance wasn't as impressive because he gave up a handful of runs, but he went 6 innings in relief and allowed the offense to crawl back. It was a pretty damn gutsy performance for a reliever coming in with his team down 5 runs in the first.

You have a great memory!

That was my FR year and first time at the box for a Super Regional. I'll never forget how defeated the whole place felt after they were down 5 in the first, then the standing ovation Determann received when he was pulled. I wasn't at the game today, but I'm sure it was the same feeling.

This was his best performance on the mound this year.

Been thinking of Doug / Jared / Bulldog, too...
In fact, I was at Tuscaloosa for the final SEC Series in 1997, when LSU needed just 1 win to lock up the regular season title.
Patrick Coogan took the loss in the first game.
Doug Thompson started the second game and gave up 7 runs in 2 innings (faced 2 batters in the 3rd). Skip pulled him out and told him, "I'm gonna need you tomorrow, son". LSU lost that game 28-2.
On Sunday, after Joey Painich gave up 3 runs in 2 1/3 innings, Skip brought Doug back in and he pitched a "gutsy" 4.2 innings of 1 hit ball to allow LSU to get back in the game. He collected the victory in that 6-4 Championship sealing game.
It was a fantastic finish to the regular season. A memory that I will have forever.
Doug Thompson was one of my All-Time Favorite LSU pitchers.
As big as that performance was, Jared's performance was on Tuesday was even bigger. How he was not on the All-Regional Team is mind boggling.
