James Moran Twitter will give better information than I will but the rundown is Broussard and Storz going see doctors. Broussard possible broken thumb and Storz has not picked up a ball since his start. Josh Smith had a set back and is not expected to return next week like previously thought. Nick Webre had that run in with the tarp, he took batting practice yesterday for the first time since but also has a wrist injury.

This isn't uncommon for any baseball team. Sometimes you hear about them; sometimes you don't. What's happening now: fewer players are playing through injuries and everything gets reported. Not long ago when a usual starter wasn't on the field, it was just a "rest day". Or one day you would see a guy's wrist taped up or a sleeve on his arm.

These are a little more conspicuous though.

Webre looked like Eric Stoltz, so it wasn't hard to see that something was up.

Broussard, one of our top two hitters, sat the rubber game of conference series in which weren't exactly lighting up the scoreboard.

While I agree that more stuff gets reported nowadays (because we have some really good beat reporters, IMO), these things are noticeable.

Find the voo doo doll remove it from the possession of the SEC Commissioner and stuff it with bigger muscles so it can hit , run and throw better....

He has an appointment to meet with a medical professional to be examined for what I bet is continued arm pain.

I think these are more injuries than I recall we typically have in a season.

How many teams have both starting middle infielders out? Almost no matter how good the guys you plug in for them are, you lose that double play chemistry that takes thousands of repetitions to develop.

I am not saying the sky is falling, but if Smith and Broussard are both out for the meat of our SEC schedule, that hurts.

LSU does recruit in baseball well, so its not the disaster it might be for teams with less depth. But it is "uncommon" when you have a pitcher playing second base.

So when the team drops a game or two because of injuries and depth issues, the negas will be screaming that they should win anyway and injuries are just excuses.

Oh, wait, that's football and the O haters. Nevermind.

More injuries than the football team during spring drills.

Storz was injured before he ever got to LSU. Smith was injured in the offseason as Mainieri said he played through it against Notre Dame in the opening series. Walker was injured during the CWS last year. Broussard got injured after getting hit on the hand by a pitch. Feduccia missed a couple games but is back. I'm counting 2 injuries that have actually occurred during this baseball season.

Lol I couldn’t agree more. I wouldn’t say the “players of old” are tougher at playing through injuries. It more along the lines of teams having to be more cautious than anything.
