Playing time on the basketball team

O’Neal and Gaines need to get more playing time going forward. Whatever you lose on the offensive side, you gain much more rebounding from O’Neal. Gaines is a better true point guard. Let Smart play the 2 guard and Gaines run the point.

Smart & Days are very inconsistent. They cannot be counted on to be involved in a good way every game.

You are playing some serious small ball doing this so you can’t do it for an extended period of time. In this scenario you are playing 3 guards with Days and Watford down low plus you are taking away minutes for Mwani who does a lot of good things on the basketball court.

I just feel the 2 things that this team is lacking is a true point guard and a big man. Smart is good, but he’s not a true point.
Let’s face it, defensive rebounding is killing this team. This team has enough scorers. They need someone eating up space and keeping the other team from all of the second chance points.

Leblanc has to play more as well (foul trouble impacts that).
He is one of the few people that hits the glass hard.

I don't think Will Wade has ever managed his bench well.
His first season and last year (injuries) he really didn't have much of a bench

O'Neal has obvious physical gifts. He needs to develop a back to the basket game and a jump hook.

How would you have described KBW's game 2 years ago? Perhaps that then. He will at best hit 25% of his shots if he keeps hanging around the 3 point line.

O’Neal is on a minutes restriction due to injury. Wade said he’s still not able to make it through a full practice yet so it’s touch and go right now.

Thanks for the update. It might also explain why he can still look a little tentative on the court. You can tell he has the talent and he will be good eventually.
