From the sports section of Jacksonville.com [by Gene Frenette]

quote:

No matter what angles Meyer considers on this issue, the player's health has to be the paramount priority. And given the unpredictability of concussion recovery, the Gators are better off in the long run by Brantley getting all or the majority of snaps.

quote:

Here's why: The unspoken truth about this matchup is winning is more critical to LSU's pursuit of SEC and national championships than it is to Florida. If you look at the polls, the top three SEC schools (No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 LSU) could each finish 12-1 and have better than a 50-50 chance of reaching the national title game.

Interesting read . . .

I can't see any circumstances under which Tebow will be cleared to play.

i can't imagine what would happen to the medical staff if he were to play and actually sustain another severe concussion with longterm effects.

seems like, with this liability hanging solely on their heads for such a popular athlete, that the answer will surely be "NO".

Frenette is a tool.

quote:

Love the sudden concern for Tebow and the Gators there, Gene-o. "Sure, go ahead and lose the game, it's fine, you'll make the title game anyway". "Tebow's health is too important to risk".

Well Gene, let me clue you in on something:

UF has ACTUAL DOCTORS.

These DOCTORS will determine if Tebow can play or not.

Some semi-literate columnist at a local rag like the TU is NOT QUALIFIED to give medical advice.

Now let's be clear. If Tebow isn't cleared to play, HE WON'T PLAY. If the doctors say he's fine, he'll play.

EITHER WAY, UF WILL WIN THE GAME. LSU can't stop the run, UF has one of the best run games in the country. LSU's QB is interception prone, UF has the best secondary in college football.

Those two factors alone spell victory for UF.

So you can stop hoping and praying that UF loses this game, and you can stop writing your Christmas column about how the Gators, with one loss, aren't worthy of playing in the NC. Yes, we know that you are already planning that column out.

I am so tired of the idiocy and blind hate from the T-U. UF plays an annual game in Jville, brings tons of cash to your sad little (and totally unworthy of an NFL franchise) city, and what's the return we get? This crap.

Frenette, you need to pack up your crayons and move to Tallahassee, so you can be near the school you love so very, very much. I'd say take Dirocco with you, but he's gotten a little better the past few years.

And hey, if you left, the TU could save some money. It's said that an infinite number of monkeys, over an infinite time period, would turn out the entire works of Shakespeare. Well, to replace you would only take one monkey, and he could put out your drivel (or better) in about an hour, hour and a half tops. All it would cost the TU is a little Monkey Chow.

The following link is to an article describing the current staff of doctors who must all agree that he could play before Urban Meyer can even consider to play him or not. It also describes the "benchmarks" he would have to meet in order to get cleared. You might find it interesting.
