Why would anyone go to Texas to play when a hurricane is headed straight for that state? Dumb.

BR to the coast = 1 hr
Dallas to the coast = 5 1/2 hrs

Playing in TX helps recruiting in Texas..
not that dumb.

What a nimrod! Clearly an Obama supporter - change you can believe in. Send me your number. I have a business opportunity to run past you.

why is Shreveport's Independence Stadium a bad idea? Cause the coon-asses (and I use that explective with pride, not in a derogatory way) have to drive 4-5 hours North? Or is it because they only think the Superdome is the ONLY other place they should play? Think about it realistically: Keep the game INSTATE, Keep the revenue INSTATE

Keeping the money in state is not an issue deciding between Shreveport and New Orleans. Both are in state. The Superdome does hold about 20,000 more people, though. 20,000 people paying $45 per ticket. $900,000 in gate revenue is nothing to sneeze at.

Shreveport does have a lot to offer:

I agree completely. I am a big fan of Shreveport and the Independence Bowl. It's a great LSU city with a lot of our fans living in it, and thanks to the Independence Bowl's desire to invite LSU any time they can, we will never have to worry about being caught in the situation that South Carolina was last year, or Ole Miss was back in 2001...bowl eligible but without an invitation. I'd love for LSU to be able to recognize the support we get from Shreveport and the Indy Bowl by playing a game there someday, but I think it's going to take a substantial expansion of the stadium to ever make that financially feasible.

If it was that huge an opportunity, we would have done it before--on purpose.

I heard from a buddy that works for the Cowboys that Dallas and New Orleans have been eliminated as alternate game sites if the game can't be played in Tiger Stadium. Let the guessing game begin!

Very Very good for recruiting. Everyone knows the talent that comes out of Texas every year. How many times has LSU got to play in UT and A&M back yard?

I'd say it would have no impact on recruiting.

+1
Everyone stop, breath and think about how a recruit/signee answers the question "why did you pick LSU over [fill in blank]?". Inevitably, the answer includes something about the campus, the facilities, AND the atomosphere in Tiger Stadium on Sat nite. You cannot have any of those with a game in another city. Don't fall for the "change you can believe in" crap. Geaux Tigers! Geaux McCain!

Give me a break; we don't need to play in Dallas to recuruit well in Texas (check our recent track record there). Plus it would cost much $$$$$$$ to play in Dallas on this short notice. And check out the latest Ike models; one line has a dead aim on the Big D..........
