I think we will be okay without Howard, but seems weird that he and his dad were outspoken about wanting a redshirt before the season started and now upset he has to be scout team again.

Also, to add both Walker Howard and Jack Bech are baby back bitches scared of competition. Good riddance

The portal should not be an option until their junior year.

Really? - I remember this about Nuss's dad and Coach O but don't remember anything about Howard's dad.

Why are some of you so petty and vindictive?

I think more regulations should be in place to make it better for schools and players but I don't like the idea of just taking away their redshirt.

Would that mean we wouldn’t have gotten 2019 Burrow?

ok, but using that rule, Joe Burrow would've exhausted his eligibility after the 2018 season.

2019 would've never happened under your rule.

this is stupid, but I do think we need to return to having to sit 1-year after transferring, except for a grad transfer.

The "immediately play" transfer rule (in combo with NIL) is destroying the game, right in front of our eyes.

Return to a 1-year waiting period after transfer, and things will quiet down substantially.

So the NCAA changes the transfer rule to benefit the student athlete and you want to propose a vindictive way to penalize them for exercising their right to take advantage of that rule?

Burrow was in a different situation. He had earned his degree at Ohio State in 3 years. Thus, when he transferred to LSU he was a Graduate Transfer and had immediate eligibility.

Good lord there are some insufferable counts on this board.

The welfare of the player is more important than how much you enjoy watching them play on saturdays.

It should be immediate eligibility for a) graduate transfers, b) coaching changes, c)rare instances of something like a mom or dad getting really sick and moving home to try to help take care of their family. Other than that it should require sitting out a year.

This isnt about welfare its about a bs narrative that kids couldnt afford cheeseburgers now they are trying to get million dollar contracts out of hS. AND you have tampering which should be a severe penalty if caught. Kids should not be able to transfer unless RS Sophmore or True Jrs without sitting out a year. The only exceptions is Probation, Coach dies or is fired, Or a serious family emergency or situtaion that requires kid to move closer to home. Otherwise the rule would be fair and stop all the damn tampering and prevent KIDS from making stupid flighty decisions based on tampering from agents, hanger ons and handlers.

What is better for both the schools and players? Is what is better for one school or player the same for all schools or players?

This is the current landscape, the players have a great deal of power. As long as that is the case, the portal will not significantly change.

my post said nothing about immediate eligibility. It was about the OP's silly rule about a transfer voiding the redshirt.

2015 Burrow redshirted at OSU
2016 Burrow played at OSU
2017 Burrow played at OSU
2018 Burrow grad transfer and played at LSU
2019 Burrow played at LSU

Under the OP's rule, Burrow's eligibility was exhausted after 2018.
