Planning for Sept 3rd. Recommendations?

Getting a group from Houston to go up and see the LSU/Oregon game. I figured a pretty good amount of people on this board probably went to the Cotton Bowl.
Does anyone have any recommendations on good hotels to stay at? Also, did anyone stay at a dump and recommend staying away from it?
Any other tidbits of info are welcome as well. Bars, restaurants etc.

We stayed at Hotel Za Za and it was awesome!
