Gordy heard the caller but didn't listen. The stadium hemorrhages fans even before half. A fact. A fan was explaining why, yet Gordy concluded some other bs about Miss State.

Anybody who has ever been to Tiger Stadium and thinks there is any comparison to the atmosphere when the band had the students and rest of the stadium interacting and rocking the place verus what is generated from the piped in music has lost their mind on this subject. Sure the players might like the idea of their music playing but they are flying around and into it when the band/fan interaction is rocking the place. THAT is what all the other fanbases felt separated our atmosphere from everyone else. Now, we are one and the same as everybody else.

I don't go to college football games so I can get the lame arse, over-produced, worn out NFL mind control experience. Keep that shite in the pros.

A college football game is a sporting event. An NFL game is a massive rock concert-style commercial clusterfrick of the senses.

Gordy likes the piped in music for noise level. Says the crowd can get into it more. Charlie says the reason the band isn't involved as much anymore is because the student section has taken away many of the songs with their cursing. Gordy says TS is at a disadvantage bc of speaker location but that the piped in music will continue to be more of a part of TS experience. Gordy says TAF committee talks about piped in music. Because Miss state has such great speakers for their music that they get more involved. Also says bigger seats and nicer options could happen to get more people. Saying that's the only way to sell it out. Stanford went from 80k to 63k. Because of HD tvs they could see downsizings happen.
Is this a radio show?

I'd probably not listen due to my ears bleeding from the most boring content/segment I've ever witnessed.

The problem these days is that marketing departments for all types of sports feel like they must cater to the ADD crowd. They are concerned that if there is even ONE SECOND of silence or "dead air", then the crowd will become disengaged. It is no longer just enough to provide the game itself. They feel like fans need to be entertained during dead times also, and i get that...but can I have at least a couple of seconds of peace and quiet to catch my breath every once in a while?

The NBA is the worst....the NFL is quickly catching up...and college football is now right there also.

I once went to a AA minor league baseball game in Tennessee and even those games are obnoxious. There was always something going on between innings promotions-wise and some girl "host" with a microphone was constantly trying to get people to "make some noooooiiiiiseee!!!" while some promotion was going on. I mean, goddam, some people actually go to baseball games to relax and not be bombarded with that shite every single inning. So that is where we are in 2016. There is no turning back.

Yeah, TV timeouts kill the mood, but we're not doing anything ourselves to try and keep it up.

Auburn plays hype videos. It's usually big plays against LSU (I presume they do this for ever SECW opponent). Good point.

I'm getting this shirt and I'm going to take it off and wave it when the defense is facing a big 3rd down. Hopefully everyone else joins me...

I think it has more to do with people trying to get ahead professionally. Keeping things the way they are and the way people like it doesn't wow anyone. It just works, but maintaining the status quo has never helped someone climb the corporate ladder.

They can't leave well enough alone because it doesn't get them noticed, so - more games, more rock music, more uniform deals, more commercials - until all of the life and fun have been used up and no one gives a shite anymore.

The NFL is experiencing that latter stage now.

It all depends on how it's done. I love the way music is handled at Grizzlies games, and so do most of the team's fans. They've been mentioned as one of the better game ops departments in the NBA the past few years, and the music variety and fit is a big reason why. It CAN be done right. Unfortunately that is more the exception than the rule.

That said, I don't want that experience at a college football game, either. I understand the realities of the modern world, and that the band has to be willing to change up some of its in-game music, but there still needs to be a balance. It seems like it sliding way too far in one direction right now.

I agree with this but a large portion of the stadium can't even hear the band anymore. It's extremely difficult from my seats in the East Upper. Then whenever there is a timeout LSU has to honor somebody for something. It's just a total buzzkill.
