Steele has a fairly good grasp of college football. I've followed him the past couple of seasons, and I've been told he was pretty solid for prior years.

He has LSU losing to Miss. St. this week and claims Miles' seat will be getting hotter.

He also has Auburn, a similar 6-7 point favorite, over Clemson.

LSU and Auburn are both home and favored by a TD, give or take a point. Auburn already defeated Miss. St. at Starkville by 3.

He is predicting an LSU loss at home to a team Auburn beat on the road. So, obviously he will have Auburn at least a 6-7 pt. favorite in Oct.

I think it does say something about the perception of the program at this point, but I also feel he is wrong.

I say LSU pulls this one out. But, I'm afraid he's right about the outcome in the Plains.

What If sports has LSU by 17 and their program plays the game 10,000 times. Since computers fly my commercial flights for 80% of the time, I'm going with the micro processor.

he already predicted auburn to be undefeated until they play Bama so that isn't a shocker.

Not necessarily. There is a lot of time between now and then.

Every once in a while someone will pick an upset of the week. It happens and Miss State is a trendy pick in the SEC along with Auburn. I wouldn't get upset because someone picked an upset and we happen to be the opponents.

Like I said, he hasn't picked that game yet and there is a lot of time between now and then.

Phil Steele no longer writes any of that dribble. All he does is market his picks and has other regular Joes picking the teams and doing all the legwork

Phil Steele is good at scouting, but sucks at handicapping.

I would not be shocked if we lose or win a close one. I also would not be shocked if we blow out MSU. You never know with Les. It's like those chocolates Forrest Gump used to talk about.

I used to buy Phil's preseason mags but most of it is recycled info from the prevous years.

LSU has a tremendous defense that is getting more dominant each week. I feel by the game with Auby that they will not be able to do the things they want to do, because Nevis and Brokers and Montgomery will dictate to them what they can and can not do. I believe that if LSU can get their offense to producing at a mid-level range in points and ball control LSU will win that game not by as much but almost as much as last year. I do not see where Auby has anything close defensively as to what LSU has and that gives LSU the advantage.

He's assuming Les will stick by JJ unless it is a total disaster. Which is my concern too. Stagnant offense but JJ is at 55%.

If so, it will be anyone's game with 10 minutes to go and Mullen will have a trick up his sleeve.

I'm just laughing because its like he thought he was going out on limb saying Miles would catch some heat if we lose.

I'm just passing along what was contained in his blog today.

I checked earlier today, and he had not posted his predictions for this week yet. I left for a DU banquet, and when I returned, they were.

I am actually surprised that he picked Miss. St. after watching their game at home against Auburn, and knowing that this is our first home game, and that it will be at night.

I'm not in the least bit concerned about Miles' hot seat. He knows the score, I know the score, too.

this guy is NOT well respected in handicapping...period. Whoever told you that is full of it. Remember, this guy did not have us preseason even ranked if i recall...and he picked ole miss last year. He is all about the trendy picks because he doesn't actually do the research required to really know what the hell is going on.

What the hell do you expect? It's the best pre-season mag out there and it's great for looking at trends, to draw your own conclusiobs before wagering. If you think there's a better mag out there, I'm all ears. The rest that I've seen are all opinions with no data...atleast his guesses are educated.

As far as his prediction for LSU's game this week, I think he's out to lunch. LSU has a large speed advantage and we're playing on a fast track in TS. MSU won't get 200 yds of total offense against us. As long as we don't give them gift turnovers, we win by 17+.

I don't bet so I don't need all that. What I'm talking about is that I've looked at his mag for 4 straight years and it's the same old shite. I mean it's like he cut & pasted most of his stuff.

So which mags are better? CBS Sportsline, Athlon, Lindy's, Sporting News...because I don't bet so I dont care about spreads & shite. Does Phil have a shite load of info? Yes, but it's the same stuff over and over again.
