More than just a note on the trajectory of the program and the rebuilding process, lets assess where we sit at the moment.

With two home games in the next three, any of which LSU can win and any of which LSU can lose, LSU just needs to go 2-1 to play meaningful November football with Alabama coming in for a game to decide first place in the west.

Sure, say that there’s no way LSU can get there or if we play like last night we will go 0-4 over the next four games. Teams aren’t static. The fact is LSU is in that position.

They’re scrappy. It hasn’t been pretty but they keep fighting for 60 minutes

We weren’t even predicted to make noise this year. Now that we have a good coach everyone is like we should be in the hunt. Let the coach do his job.

Without a QB who can actually play the position, the team will founder. I say try to develop Nuss as JD has hit his ceiling.

Just a thought.

I really believe the coaching staff is hoping the light "clicks" for JD at some point. He's the safer choice on our roster but I disagree with those thinking he's the most talented. Nuss is erratic but has displayed better arm strength, better ball placement, and more decisiveness of where to go with the ball. However, that comes at a cost that our staff just isn't ready to deal with.

Read between the lines of that Auburn game. Our offense struggled mightily and even though JD "could've came back and played" they opted to play Nuss. JD is our starter but that should tell you they're happy with his play. That game was tight and typically you don't pull a guy for a QB as erratic as Nuss...unless you feel the pressure to.

Nuss just always looks as if he's pressing when he gets in. Seems he knows he's the more talented QB that can make plays and makes throws he sometimes shouldn't because he wants to show it in real h=game experience. I think JD starts because he simply runs the offense as its called, where Nuss tries to make every play.

We can't keep giving up double-digit leads and expect to claw back into the game. That cannot last.

I do not disagree with this in general. As I see it, JD will not start here next season unless something disastrous happens in the QB room. He is a poor QB. With that in mind, would it be wrong to try to see if Nuss can be developed this year? Just asking...

Yeah, because you know better than BK. People always want to see the backup QB. You would rather take a chance on a gunslinger and risk wins this season ?
