Both coaches have impressive resumes and stats.... Who would we want and be a better fit for LSU?

Have you seen anyone here jerk off to Venables yet? We're hard for Pendergast.

Pendergast all the way. Nasty 3-4 defense, west coast recruiting ties, worked with Les Miles before. We need him in our life lol

Possibly because Venables just signed an extension. While the other coach is unemployed.

Doesn't Venables have the best defense in the nation?

Either would be great. We're not getting either though, IMO. If TAMU was offering him all that money what makes anyone think he's coming to LSU?

Either one would be a very good hire.

Venables time at Oklahoma concerns me, he was inconsistent. But its not like its impossible for someone to improve as a coach either

What job is he waiting for if it is not this one?

Venables, without a doubt.

His struggles at Oklahoma were as a Co-DC. He's proven what he can do running his defense at Clemson.

Don't think he'll leave Clemson for a lateral move although I think you call him and only him until he tells you no.

There seems to have been another name added to the mix that will make everyone forget about these two

He used to work with Miles. Maybe he likes Miles enough to come.

An NFL job. LSU isn't the be all it can be job like you think it is. I don't know if you've noticed but Les Miles isn't winning enough games anymore and it has been a steady decline since the NC game. We weren't exactly amazing for several years before that either. I'd imagine he wants to go somewhere with a little more security. Another season like this and Miles seat will be getting super hot.

I am not unrealistic in my assessment of the LSU job, but I don't think you can argue it is not one of the 10 best destinations for a college coordinator. If you think he is interested in the NFL, fair enough, but I also can't imagine you think a college job with a top 5 defensive talent level is less secure than an NFL coordinating job.

Rather then having to search through the whole Pendergast thread can you just say the name?

I do know this. OU fans were happy to see Venables go. D went south after Mike Stoops left and V took over. They were begging Clemson to hire him away
