Passing game will be explosive in 2017

We only have explosive passing games in years when it is the quarterback's last year (Russell in 2006, Flynn in 2007, Mettenberger in 2013).

In 2017, Harris will be a senior, Dupre will be a senior and will not have left because he won't have any stats in his first 3 years, Diarse will be a 5th year senior, Quinn will be a senior, and Tyron Johnson will be a junior along with Chark and Ferguson.

Leonard Fournette will no longer be here as he will leave for the NFL after 3 years.

Everyone needs to relax. We only use an explosive passing game when we need it. In 2017, we will need it. For the next season and a half, just enjoy watching Leonard Fournette. We're throwing the ball enough to keep the defense honest right now. That is all that really matters. I guarantee we won't lose as long as we're getting 300+ yards per game rushing, or even 200+ most likely, regardless of how many passing yards we get. The passing game we have is plenty good enough with this power running attack. Both are better than they were in 2011.

The defense is what needs to clamp down. Giving up an average of over 20 ppg through these 4 games is embarrassing. I know it isn't a talent issue. It's probably more of a motivation and focus issue but they need to find it within them to have the pride to desire to shut down everyone, not just rise up when they need to...

There is this guy named Guice that will be around for 2017. He's not Leonard Fournette, but he's looked damn good when he's seen the field.

Absolutely. I did not mean to say that Guice would not be great. I just mean that if Harris is a 3rd year starter and senior with a receiving corps that talented and experienced, we will throw a lot, like we did in 06, 07, & 13. Guice will still be plenty productive, of course. And then, in 2018, when Harris, Dupre, Diarse, and Quinn, and maybe Tyron Johnson are gone, but Guice is probably back because he wasn't featured quite as much as a junior, Guice will put up huge stats himself. It's just kind of easy to see the patterns of the LSU offense. We have been going through the same patterns for Miles' entire tenure. He relies heavily on experience and production.

I don't really care about a passing game

I think folk are caught up in the thing they are being told is missing - after it is a issue I will be concerned - it goes back to the final game of 2011

living through that - like we did - it is understandable

we are all scared for life

I don't want to disappoint you but as long as CLM is our coach we will NEVER have an explosive passing game.

We may have a good one, an efficient one, a surprise here and there. I just don't see CLM every having the reputation of coaching an explosive passing game.

I will settle for another SECC and NCAA C

Did your crystal ball also say that Miles and Cameron would be long gone?

Unless the coaches can get the QB problems fixed, we may have a new OC in 2017 (which won't matter if Miles is still the HC). I don't think that TAF will abide 2 more years of inept QB play. Miles' seat will be very warm and the big wigs will demand a sacrificial lamb, which would likely be Cameron.

I played HS WR and Justin Vincent was our RB, and he touched the ball 20+ times a game. When your number is called, do your damn job!

Why would you wait until it is "an issue" when history shows it will be an issue? Everyone is happy that LSU is 4-0. But those rational enough to look ahead know that LSU hasn't hit the toughest part of their schedule. There are still teams left to play that have some pretty good defenses: Ole Miss, Bama, Florida, hell, even an improving A&M. At some point the team is going to need the passing game to click (at least to some extent). To this point, the passing game looks worse than last season. LSU is literally in the bottom 5 of the nation in passing along with 4 teams that run the triple-option.

It would be one thing if this season was an anomaly. But as we all know it's not. If the goal is to win 8-9 games this season, then I think LSU is fine. If the goal is to win much bigger prizes, then something has to change. Every week we hear "the passing game is going to improve this week" or "we're going to open things up a bit this week" or Miles' usual bullshite about things are improving. You're the fricking HC! It's your job to make sure things improve. Clearly whatever LSU has been doing for 1.5 years isn't working if the goal is to have a competent passing game. There is no more Jordan Jefferson, Jarrett Lee, Gary Crowton, Studrawa, even Anthony Jennings to blame things on. Look at the ONE constant. Les is content to have his passing game function exactly like those of Army, Navy, Ga. Tech, etc.: an aspect of the offense used to (1) potentially hit a few big plays and (2) something they have to employ on 3rd and long.
