Crazy. Didn't think 27th round would be enough to sway him from LSU. Best of luck to him.

Good for him! I really had no idea which way he would be leaning.

ETA: This puts the roster at 42/35.

Good for him.

I'll take a Bugg departure for a Poche return.

I don't think Poche is making his decision on whether Bugg returned or not...

I don't blame any pitcher for deciding to leave. There are only so many throws in that arm. Kind of like a running back in football.

Dumb but hey best of luck to him. Maybe he was tired of school and was ready to start working for a living.

Whoa! More 'processing' to come.....

When Parker first showed up as a freshman I remember Mainieri making the statement that they were going to help him build some muscle on his 6'6" frame and try to get his fastball into the mid and maybe even upper 90's. It never happened.

Bugg would show flashes but he never really established himself and got command of his pitches to be that slam dunk closer he seemed to be destined during year one.

Good luck and thanks for choosing LSU

Probably not a bad idea to sign. Unless he blew the doors off next year, chances are his contract would be significantly lower as a Sr than a Jr with bargaining power.

I doubt there's much of a bonus drop from 27 to wherever.

I hope he gets his degree.

Rome tweeted a little while ago that Bugg's signing bonus is $50,000.

Yep, I agree. After taxes and agent, there's not even enough to buy a Prius. Maybe he was one of the guys who got the "strongly incourage you to sign" talks from Mainieri and Dunn in an effort to get the roster down similar to Smith.

Or, it was suggested to him with the new arms coming in plus the other returning pitchers, he was not guaranteed a roster spot next season.

Next year as a round 27 pick he would be looking at less than 20K. Based on past drafts, it could be even less than 10K.

Reminds me if Chinea leaving, he should have stayed another year (Chris is a family friend, I understood why he left but damn...)

So just Smith, Fraley and Bugg have signed so far?

Yeah, but there are rumblings that Stallings will sign. It would be great to have him back.

ETA: I guess Fraley technically hasn't signed, but it's a given that he will
