Major burns needs snaps limited (freshman need to see the field)

Zy Alexander needs to sit (everyone talked about Stamps being great, and Welch was a high ranked recruit)

Womack needs more snaps

Swinson needs more snaps over Ovie

Jefferson needs to play more than Smith right now

Whit Weeks is going to be a superstar, he needs to continue to start

Denver Harris looks solid, pretty good tackler

DL gets pressure, but fails to finish the job. Too many times they had Jefferson pressured and he just stepped up and found a wide open receiver.

The play 10 yards off the ball zone is getting picked apart. Slants, curls, and drags are open all game.

Did LSU blitz much? They did frequently vs Miss state. With this secondary you need pressure.

Defense complete trash and the play calls were terrible.

How bout we're still trying to use Perk as a spy / in coverage too much.

Dude, it makes him obsolete on so many plays.

And the hesitation at the snap and then blitz just gets him stood up by the OL.

He needs that burst of speed right off the snap to be effective. It's his speed and athleticism that makes up for his size. When you have him hang back and then go, he's lost his advantage.

Matt House is a very conservative coordinator. I think part of the reason Matt House is playing soft zone is due our to our lack of quality DBs and being scared of being burnt over the top.

Just my sense

This defense is not above average in any area with the possible exception of LB. The defensive line has been a huge disappointment. I suspect that Maason Smith is not back in shape and may have thoughts of his ACL dancing in his head. They cannot get consistent pressure on the QB.

The secondary is as bad as most people suspected. Alexander inexplicably left his man to move toward Jefferson who simply lofted a TD pass to the now uncovered Arkansas receiver. This is on the coaches.

The staff is trying to scheme this weak unit out of trouble, but it will prove to be more difficult than pushing mud uphill.

If LSU cannot attract better players...well.

My overview of the “defense”:

Our DBs can’t cover shite so House decides that he’s going to make them cover guys longer by not even trying to dial up blitzes.

House needs to be finding a new home come January. He’s clearly in over his head and can’t recruit for shite

The amount of weak 4 man rushes last night were driving me insane. We got lucky a couple of times from our guys making plays, but we left KJ too much time to pick apart our secondary

This is true but a lot of this was due to KJ being a load to bring down and our secondary playing like arse

If our secondary was worth a shite, the pressure we got would have been more than adequate

D line is still the strength of the defense

Perk as a spy

I don’t get the hate for Perkins spying. Pats year when he had 4 sacks against arky, the majority of them were him as a spy.

When he effectively ended Florida’s offense in the 4th quarter last year, it was as a spy.

When he harassed Bruce young last year, it was as a spy.

He’s an incredibly gifted spy. The only difference is last year we had BJ to flush the QB and allow Perk to hunt once the QB escaped the pocket. This year we aren’t as good at flushing the QB or holding the coverage long enough to let perk hunt.
