11-1 is a FLOOR??? Pretty optimistic. And prob not realistic since the passing game will take a step back.

Think about it though. Mett threw 12 TDs total in 2012, and we finished 10-2. With our defense back to form and the run game behind 5 returning starters on oline (I don't think many realize how important and lucky this can be), A game manager can put up 14-20 TDs. I think 10-2 is the floor if Hill and the entire oline returns.

Adding Jenning's mobility to the equation is going to make Auburn's offense look like a joke.

he may be more valuable to the program than Les Miles

He is more valuable IMO. After the Chick Fil A loss last year with the players I knew LSU was going to lose to the NFL on defense, the way the offense had been for the last few years, and the schedule, I was thinking 5 or 6 wins. Cam was a home run hire.

The OP might be onto something.

Cam isn't going anywhere. I wish this 'but, but if he leaves, uhhh' talk would stop.

He's not leaving to be a head coach and he's certainly not leaving to make a lateral move to another program.

We all saw what he did with Mett in less than a season, there's no reason to think he couldn't do that with Jennings. I realize the two have completely different skill sets but given time, Jennings will improve. I have no doubt and now that the off season is here, there's plenty of time for him to learn.

The kid made his first start, in a bowl game, against a top rated defense, and won. Granted, the running game really helped him out substantially but I think that was a good tune up for the kid, just from a "what to expect" thing for next season.

Is Nick Marshall a senior? I could look it up but I don't feel like it. He has to be an upper classmen. I read that AU may lose Tre Mason.

Bama breaks in a new OC and a new QB.

If we keep the OL and Hill comes back, I feel pretty good, honestly.

Marshall will be back. Mason declared for the draft a few days back

My only problem with your statement is that it centers around AJ as the defacto starter next year.

To me that's Les Miles speak. We have 4 fine young QB prospects on board and we need to let CC make that decision. Spring drills should narrow it down but who knows. I don't really care who eventually wins the job, just as long as its not a PC choice.

May the best man win the job.

Mauck/Flynn "manager type is Rettig. Camerban likes Rettig and has been hiding him while he develops out of the limelight. The DTQB Obsessed Menagerie wont like what happens in Spring practice.

not sure why y'all get all fired up when every sign is right in front of your eyes that it's gonna be a long one next year. your bad DL doesn't get better by losing its starters and your MLB is still, well, DJ Welter. lost your best safety and only return questionable guys at either spot. hunter hardly did jack all year. you're basically hoping and praying some 4 star redahirt heroes and a freshman MLB come in and save your front 7 and it just don't work that way.

you got all the evidence you needed that it's gonna be a long year at the QB position in the outback bowl and you just assume cam's gonna turn a 19 year-old into zach mettenberge in 2 months of practice. doesn't work like that. 9-3 if we beat wiscy. bama and auburn almost sure losses.

Per the other thread on this topic, I think a very unimpressive, grind it out 11-1 is a good FLOOR for this team.

This kind of thread always amuses the crap out of me as the OP gives no thought to whether or not they will be alive for the season to come.

There are definitely some homer posts in this thread, but yours is the opposite extreme. I have every reason to believe the QB performance will be much better than what we saw in the bowl game. A freshman will improve a lot in his second year. I also believe our front seven is likely to be better than this past year, although that's a crapshoot. We'll have much more experience at DE and LB. The DTs will be new, but they're replacing guys who, whatever their talents, didn't play well until the season was half over. Defensive backfield is going to be the strength of this team and the best in the country. Running game should be very powerful. A lot depends on the QB not turning it over, though.

Optimist or retard?

Optimistic retard would be my take.

The qb has to do enough to keep the defense honest. Doesn't matter who the running backs are if they constantly face 8 or 9 man fronts.

No proven starter at QB. Holes to replace at DT and OLB. We can't run on everyone.

9-3 with losses to Wisconsin, Auburn, and Bama. DL will not be stout enough to stop Wisc or Auburn. Until we try to do what Saban doesn't want us to do against his D, he will have our #.

The Defense was improving and I think will be ok.
The only question mark I have is QB and we have several talented QBs to choose from with Cam to develope them.
Young but talented WRs,
The team will be better.

Our passing game will take a step back but with the backs we have it should be ok in most games. If they gel throughout the year and hit their stride 5-6 games in, I like our chances.

We could be worse then this year though if qb doesnt step up. Next year is a big question mark.

The Spring will be interesting to see who emerges on top- there is no certainty at QB, especially after the Iowa game.

Give me whatever it is you're smoking. If we return Collins, Turner and Hill then we'll probably be a 10 win team next year. We have massive question marks at WR, QB, DL, S and LB. It's entirely possible our defense sucks next year. Considering how average freak/ego were and they both left...better have some fast development there or we're in trouble. Welter couldn't even get his job pressed, Rasco was mediocre and Hunter was okay but isn't anywhere close to seeing the light come on yet. S was a problem all last year and it will probably continue unless we get some major development there.

QB is QB. It's one of the slowest and hardest positions to develop. At WR we have a ton of potential with very little experience outside Dural. WRs is a much bigger concern than people are giving credit to right now, IMO. Dural didn't exactly show anything special this year except a deep ball catch where he was wide open against Arkansas.

Our schedule is easier in the SEC from previous years but we're opening the year against probably the best opening opponent since Oregon. I think we'll lose 3 games this year.
