Our struggles at QB have nothing to do with lack of talent

we continuously put our QB in a position to fail. We run the ball on first and second down and then throw a predictable screen on third and long.

We are so predictable on offense it's almost laughable. The only time an LSU QB is going to be successful is when they can continuously convert 3rd and 6/7s. The last QB that could do that was Mett.

We will open up more as the season progresses. Harris has a live arm!

Harris had a decent game. I don't know why you want him to do with just 13 attempts. You can't claim he is struggling that would be dishonest. He had a 48 yard td pass called back and onecclear crucial catch calledc in incomplete. His play early allowed us to score as well on some critical 3rd down passes. He ran well as well.

I think he meant the production of the position not Harris himself. Harris played well but was handcuffed by play calling.

My post was not intended to say that harris struggled. Harris played great considering the situations he was put in. I'm saying that we have the capability to be much much more effective on offense if we didn't continuously put our QB in third and longs before he's even had a chance to throw the ball.

The QBs lose confidence because Miles shows zero confidence in them. Imagine working for a boss that always assumed you were going to fail no matter how well you did when given a chance.

Harris didn't struggle. The offense eventually did because we ran-ran-passed or ran-ran-ran. How is it Harris' fault when running plays are called on third-and-8? State was able to jam the line and we started getting stopped for about 2 yards every run.

The one weak spot that might be attributable to Harris was throwing long into double coverage on third downs. But we don't know if that's his decision or if the play calls were to go deep.

LSU gave up on the intermediate passing game. Those screens are essentially handoffs and an extension of the running game, a poor choice when you've already got a defense with 9 and 10 in the box.

Yes. It's 100% the offense we run. And it's not just the QB who suffers, it's the entire offense. Just think what Fournette could do vs. a 6 man box instead of 7-8 every play. Just think of what our receivers could do if we went 4 wide, and ran 4-5 passing routes on a play instead of 2.

Our offense is one incredibly massive failure.

Given CLM relative success at this level, it's clear that he does a lot of things very well. Recruiting, conditioning, preparation, mentorship and leadership etc are obviously strong suits of the program.

Game day x's and o's and situational playcalling however...he's terrible. It was never really his strength in the first place, but he seems to be getting worse.

I think Harris was limited do to it being his second start and on the road. Miles was scared of what happened in Auburn. What I don't get is early on it appeared like he was going to let Harris loose. But he ended that once we got the lead. I also don't get why they didn't stay with the option read. The team had drives when Harris was allowed to keep them off balance with the threat to run.

Les shut it down once it was 21-6. Almost came back to bite him big time.

Not to worry guys. After Harris has 3 or 4 more games under his belt Miles is gonna add some 10-15 yard pass plays and open up the passing game and throw it 30% of the time instead of just 25% of the time.. And then he's gonna add some hot routes on the blitz other than the tight end running a wheel route down the sideline. There's no telling what else he'll add by the 8th or 9th game.
