Jacob Phillips mentioned somewhere that the defense has been working on different coverages for the first 3 weeks based on the opponents offensive style, and says they haven't tried mixing things up to create confusion. I think there's a method to Aranda's calls and the shaky coverage.

No question...when they went man to man, they shut down NSU

We have the next few weeks to get this right, but our defense is not playing up to their potential in any way.

I agree. LSU doesn't fix this defense, Florida is going to shred this defense to pieces. What concerns me? Almost no pass rush, especially from the edges. This was Northwestern (consolidated high school) right? These folks got beat by Midwestern whoever 33-7. Lost to UTM 42-20 before that. This North was not a very good team. Those LSU Lineman and L/B should have camped out in the North backfield all night long. Don't care how many starters were out.

Hummm?

I've been getting blasted by some for saying Divinity and Phillips are overrated. Nothing changed my mind last night wrt Phillips.

I asked in the other thread and nobody has answered so I'll ask here too....the radio broadcast indicated Harris knee was sprained. I think O's press conf on Monday may give some more detail but no tear leaves he door open for a grade 1 or 2 sprain.

Is their another report out there that said anything different from that?

No reason to shite on the kid. He had a couple bad reads. He will be important for our success. You won't. So maybe STFU

He has looked objectively bad and this is an internet message board discussion. Chill.

It was not a couple bad reads either. He has been abused and a clear weak spot.

We've also played a lot of people and messed around with different coverages. I think we'll see a settling when the SEC games roll around.

This is the first game we were truly out of position on a regular basis.

Secondary needs to improve their communications, no doubt. With said the athletes are there to make plays. For them to be 'great' this season they need some help from the DL/OLBs, i.e. pass rush. Grant it last night we were without FOUR guys who generate most of our pass rush: KC, MD, Lawrence and Logan. We need the starting D to get back on the field, and work this out before the UF game. Pieces are there to be very good on D; just need to get them all pulling in the same direction.

Kelvin Joseph would have played at least 80 snaps already this year if he wasn’t stupid.

That was a huge loss but I don’t sympathize with irrational people.

Probably had the potential to supplant Vincent, and definitely be on the field when Fulton or Stingley need a break or get nicked. Bad advice by whoever had his ear.

He’s not getting much help from the coaching staff. He’s playing a combo coverage backed 7 yards off the LOS. When both backers blitz, the slant will be wide open every play. We’re actually playing a lot of man with this concept. We press the number one WR with the CB. We’re 7 yards off number 2 and 10 yards off number 3. We fixed it the 2nd half.

We can't seem to get our team to gather ! We haven't had a QB in 9 years but had a great defense! Now we have great QB& sorry defense! Tigers better get their shite to gather or we gonna lose our arse when we get into the conference!

Harris and Vincent are awful. Surely someone can give a better effort than what those guys have provided over the last 3 weeks. Why Harris was on the field, I will never understand. Monroe is better than Harris in my opinion. Not sure why the coaches were determined to play Harris, but the injury may have given LSU its best chance. I am not glad that he is hurt, but the coaches are not seeing the right thing in him, because he does not belong on a SEC defense. Once again, I am not celebrating his injury, but I am happy that others will get a look for game situations.
