I'm taking this as sarcasm...if not, I apologize.

Just trying to educate the masses is all. Here are a couple references for you to check out. The first is the NFL training video on it. Not that the NFL has ANYTHING to do with the NCAA with regard to rules, but just wanted to cover all the angles. Lol.

NFL holding rules

This one is the NCAA training video. It covers most things, so you'll have to forward to the 50 minute or so mark when it goes into holding. You see there are a few plays there where the lineman or other offensive player has ahold of a jersey inside the shoulders and it is explained that this is, in fact, holding.

NCAA holding explained at ~50 minute mark

Saying all that...the holding isn't what cost us the game. We did it profusely as well.

The crying about officials is embarrassing. LSU gets just as many non calls as Bama does but some choose to think there is some great conspiracy.

correct. Rational LSU fans understand this.

I'd honestly like every poster who complains about the referees or the announcers to also post their age and education level. And I'm being serious.

The number one rule for a DLineman is "Don't let them get their hands on you". Those of you screaming for years that Bama gets away with holding have no idea what you're talking about. An olineman having a firm grasp between the shoulder pads is NOT holding. There was ONE missed holding call that I saw all game on Bama, LSU actually got away with 2-3.

If the OL has good position (in front of defender) and has his hands between the shoulder pads, you are right that holding is not appropriate. In this day and age, that's called blocking.

However, if an offensive player does not have good position and has lost leverage on the defender, and he grabs and pulls the defender (even if he grabs between the shoulder pads) that's holding. A defensive end who gets the outside of a tackle, and has said tackle reach across his torso, grab the and pull him down is holding. It was called once. It should have been called at least 3-4 times.

It's all about the leverage of the blocker.

OK really how can we find out the "HOME TOWN" of all the

SEC football ref's.........

Don't the other Athletic Directors (other than Ala.) care

that the ref's favor ALABAMA

Actually they very rarely do. Pussies use penalties as excuses for not winning

so you really want to exclude refs from specific games based on their home town?

What about home state?

College(s) attended?

Spouses' and kids' college attended?

Current state of residence?

You see where all this nonsense leads?

Don't you think it's likely that most refs in the SEC live and work and attended college IN THE SOUTHEAST???

And you want to exclude them based on some silly perceived notion of bias?

I only remember yelling, "That's holding!" at the TV once Saturday night. The refs called holding on the play.

I'd love to see the stats on how often Bama players get called for penalties while at Bama and then how often they get called for something in the NFL...

Do y’all honestly think there’s some conspiracy to not call holds on bama?

Or that Saban and co neglect when they see someone hold in practice because they know it won’t get called in a game?

Are other conference refs in on it too? Alabama only had one called holding in the title game vs Clemson this year. 0 in 2016.

Holding that isn’t called isn’t holding. The scenario painted by the OP is never called as you pointed out

You fail miserably. Go watch the semi-final game when Robinson got called 2-3 Times for “Hooking with one arm as the rush beat him.

Here is the sad thing.... LSU could have won the game 31-0 and LSU fans would still try to find a reason to bitch about the refs.... sad indeed.....

There were a lot of missed holds on both sides. LSU benefitted from some no calls and so did Bama. The refs largely let them play

I State a fact and you come back with this?
How do you justify yourself?
What is sad, I gave the rules and what I saw happen to to TAMU in the end zone and happen several times Saturday. You can’t hook. It’s that simple.

You need to rewatch the game if you think Alabama was only guilty of hold one time. Every team holds. Alabama only had one penalty all game. Unbelievable.

So that's what you're going with? The old, "it's only illegal if you get caught" cliche?

Holding, inside the shoulders or not, is holding if it impedes the defender's progress. End of story. OP said it is never holding if you are inside the shoulders. He, and you, are wrong.

If you don't see the hands and arms hooking LSU players well outside the shoulders outside the LSU players frame in that game you are certainly blind.

No that is not at all what I said. I said that every ref knows it is happening and if it is inside the shoulders they do not call it, period.

The rule, or not the rule, it is never called. Ever.
