O's wristband question

I saw Ed O wearing that play calling wristband similar to what qbs wear. And then I think I saw frank Wilson wearing one too. My question is: do the coaches call specific plays to the d line and rbs? I just would like to know what those calls would be like? Specifically, what kinds of things would they be communicating or focusing on?
