In January of '07, an Oregon fan posted a rather insightful blog about LSU's offense and its hiring of Gary Crowton: LINK
But, in Crowton's defense, he said:
quote:
LSU Fans Will Suffer Because of Gary Crowton
quote:
The truth is Gary Crowton has a good offense. But smart teams are going to figure it out.
quote:
Most of the coaches in the SEC are almost as smart as Urban and they will shut down LSU’s offense.
quote:
LSU has great athletes and he will find a way to make them look bad.
quote:
Be ready for an undisciplined offense that fails to make any adjustments-during the game or season.
But, in Crowton's defense, he said:
quote:I don't doubt this. You can argue all day about coaching ability, but you can't dispute that Miles has class. It probably has something to do with why Crowton did not leave after last season. In other words, Miles may have kept Crowton after last year because he liked him as a person, despite the anemic offense.
Gary Crowton is a great person.

Miles and Crowton will be 2 really nice guys watching Alabama win the SEC again.

Miles is faithful to a fault sometimes. I think that Miles felt that the biggest problem was the QB position. He had seen Crowton light it up in the past, and felt the O would turn it around with a maturing QB. However, JJ has regressed and they did not have enough confidence in JL to give him a chance. I do not like Crowton's play calling, but things could still turn around on O if JL comes on strong. I think he will.
