Lot of letter writing going on.
Did didn't mention the fact that BR and LSU depend on game days and especially this year following the floods?

The phrase "can you get that?" is never helpful in a piece of communication meant to persuade another party.
It comes across as antagonistic. Plus, ESPN types generally don't care what we the viewer think or say.
I remember years ago when ESPN cut away from live coverage of the CWS to show Mike Mussina throwing a no hitter in a regular season game. I was so mad I called ESPN and left a message. Of course it didn't change any of their policy, but it made me feel better which I hope this letter did for you.

Seems to me like OP just wanted a medium to rant and yell at someone. If this is an attempt at persuasive writing, OP probably didn't make it past 10th grade.

The idiom is also "through the lens."

This isn't an open letter. This is you ranting.
I thought it was deleted by admins...My original title was "To ESPN", but someone with admin priviliges made changed it to the "Open Letter to ESPN (long - so very long)" title on my behalf. I assume this is because the title was not descriptive enough, so the admins changed it to what they perceived was my intent, and I am glad they did that versus deleting it.
If people do not like it for its length, that is understood. That's why there was the upfront note to jump to #3
Also, some will say that ESPN knows this already, but if you are watching most of the narrative play out, they are continually (Desmond Howard, Paul Finebaum, etc...) NOT getting #3...thus this post.
And I KNOW FOR A FACT that some ESPN folks DO regularly read the rant, because I have had conversations with more than one of them who have referenced the rant as a "good source for perspective"

The really crummy part is that they should have just left the game in gainsville for Sunday night.

You need to learn the art of being concise. Your whole letter is a mess and too hard to follow even with the numbers.
Why would they care about what you have to say if you can't make your point in a concise non-condescending manner?
I think you can make your points in about a quarter of the space, and it would be more persuasive and, ultimately, more convincing.

why do posters care so much about what ESPN or any other talking head says or thinks? I stopped listening to pundits a long time ago.
Just watch the games and enjoy them, and ignore the national media.
Just play well, win on the field, and ignore the rest.

If you think the higher-ups over there don't already know all of this then you are delusional. They do not report the news, they create it. No one is sitting in an office at ESPN saying "hmmm...that's a really fresh and valid point."
They do not care about reporting anything if it won't get them viewers or clicks. Fact is, this isn't an issue to 90% of the people in this country outside of SECland, so what is their motivation to report on it ad nauseum like we have?
The most they will do is inform their loudmouthed politically-correct talking heads that a game was cancelled, and then said underqualified panelists will proceed to spray misinformation and opinions and pass it off as "news." Why in the world anyone still supports that joke of a media outlet is still beyond me.

What about the request up front about moving to #3 (if time limited) do you not understand?
And, speaking of #3, give me your basis for why this is not a sufficient part of this post, and why any reasonable person could not a) read it in less than 1 minutes and b) appreciate the gist of the post based on reasonable intellectual capacities?
In other words, maybe you are not as bright and practical as you view yourself.

If you really want them to read it, direct it to "Dear Sportswriter" and email it to every sports writer, individually at ESPN, and to other sports writers too.

Completely agree with this! True wisdom indeed! We win out, this whole issue blows up. Just like we want it to.
